Simple question: Are there any good free tutorials/manuals on this distro(backtrack)? Preferably version 5, if non-existent, then for earlier versions?

Ok, thx anyway. Also, this is for class, we were asked to study about it, yet I understand your unwillingness, it's wise.

Addition: I've been doing some thinking, and have a question.
What is backtrack even intended to be used for?? Is it for IT security consults to use when they perform penetration tests on a system? I don't know much about it, so if anyone knows, please do share your knowledge!

wat

you're using it in class and they don't tell you what it's for?

It's what you said before. A variety of penetration tests for various things such as cracking wep, exploitation, forensics, maintaining different kinds of access, etc.

You know you can get this with a simple google search lol. Hell it's even on their main website.

If you want to learn more just search some tuts on youtube or generally on the internet

Well, it was a thing we did just to show an example of how cracking WLANs could look like, so we didn't go in-depth about what uses it had, our teach only said that it was a must-have distro for penetration testers ;D

Oh, quite useful then! :D

I do, but "hearing" it from others makes it more dynamic rather than reading a text~
