I have no clue what you guys are talking about. As you guys know making one super hero movie is difficult considering you have to pair a story with character development while also showcasing their abilities and action. The Avengers not only showed character development but also the dynamic between every character on the team and also had a ton of action, a good story, and an open ending for another movie. So in other words it was extremely successful and well deserved the hype.

Well it wasn't that special IMO... Maybe it as a hard movie to make with all the character development and all that, but that is not what makes a special movie in my eyes.

But I really liked the movie, I just think was a bit overhyped ^^

1. character development was for kids
2. its not all that hard to adapt a comic hero, there are plenty of movies with better stories and less hype
3. action was just destoying everything, action is just a small part of a movie, the events that really matter to the story (like conversations) are more important
4. a ton of action doesnt make a good character
5. an open ending just means that they think they might milk more money out of it
6. it was successful money wise but it was actually very overrated

Sounds like you wanted the movie to fail from that perspective. I dont know what you mean by the character development is for kids but ok. It is difficult to adapt a comic hero which is why the Hulk has failed twice and so did the Green Lantern. When it comes to action, every action scene is either a fight or things blowing up. There were a ton of conversations as well, hence character development so you contradicted yourself. I never said a ton of action makes a good character. Of course they want more money. And considering they beat of ton of records for any movie, it is not over hyped or overrated.

Well, the concept of reuniting all these superheroes was inevitably going to stir humongous hype.

It was my 2nd most awaited movie of this year. Personally, it turned out better than my expectations. It's one of the best action fest I've seen - especially in 3D. There are a number of reasons why it's successful:

1. There are few quality superheroes movie and this one definitely wasn't a dud. At the very least, it was highly entertaining. Coming from Marvel Studios, it's perhaps their best attempt.

2. Their decision to prime action instead of conversation and character development is correct. Don't get me wrong but all these characters - Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Loki, Captain America - got a solo movie where there were loads of character development and history. Sure, certain of those movies were either great or barely average but it will have been a waste of a time to re-present deeply all those characters.

3. The cast is aptly chosen and all of them blends well. Ruffalo's restraint & Downey's narcissism are perfect. Even Capt. America's character which was awfully boring in his Solo movie got me a bit hooked.

4. At least, all the money spent on this big-budgeted movie ended as a full-on blast action. It wasn't boring like Transformers, 2012, Narnia, Battleship, Superman Returns ect...I'd give credit to the makers that even if they didn't make a masterpiece in terms of story, I didn't regret my money a single bit.

5. They are now pretty much setting a global mood for Marvel Superheroes. One where it's glossy, funny and full of extravaganza. And it's nice to find similarities between them. Especially at the ending. We gotta admit that for a movie with little character development and predictable story, it has the heart to make all of that work.

The only flaws in the movie is that:

1. It lacks any kind of novelty in the plot.

2. The villains - other than Loki - deserved more emphasis.

Otherwise, we should appreciate it as it is and for its epic entertaining value. We are going to ruin the whole experience by being over-critical.

Avengers was amazing in my eyes.... i mean there might be a little too much action but i liked the way they made the heroes "not like" eachother in the beginning so they kinda had to built up a relationship and also the way Hulk acted against Thor...

Loki was great too as he is a very arrogant person...

overall i really liked it but a little overhyped..

Personally I think it was a great movie, hype or not. Keep in mind that it was their first time uniting in the film. That's why the movie had a certain level of build-up. You can't just toss a group of superheros together and expect it to be intense from beginning to end. They need time to set aside their differences and become teammates. This movie was meant to establish just that.

With the introduction of Thanos you can bet that Avengers 2 will be even greater. They won't need as much time building up the teamwork like they did in this movie.
