Meh, I'll rely on the databook on every point not contradicted by the manga.

I'm not going to let the whole book crash because of a few inconsistencies. Innocent until proven guilty.

It was already proven guilty. More than once, actually.

Did I not just say I would rely on it for every point not contradicted by the manga?

"Innocent until proven guilty," was referring to all the points not contradicted by the manga. I shouldn't have to explain such a simple post to you.

Not the point. If something has made mistakes in the past, there is a probability of the future statements to be incorrect as well. That's what I meant.
Let's say, a thief, who just got out of jail. He paid for his crime. So, now would you trust him?

Don't you think that if it had one, most to all of them would be?

That's an incorrect analogy. I consider every statement made by the author to stand on its own two feet, and can only be disproven when the author says otherwise. Until then, its fact.

No.

No.

No, it's not. It's like I said in the other posts. We should think by ourselves and analyse the statements in databook comparing it with the events in the manga and the very logic of the NV. Then we see if it's really true.

The mistake here is to keep believing in something blindly when it has made many mistakes. My 1st post explains it pretty fine. We shouldn't disconsider the databook, but we should read it in a smarter way, instead of taking everything there as facts just like mindless zombies.

DataBook is kinda outdated at this point. Until a new one comes by, it should not be used in a debate, in my honest opinion

it helps them make up fantasy stories of how their fave beats XY so obviously they'd try to disregard the databook even when it's completely supported with manga fact and feat.

And what about when it's disproved by manga facts? Should we pretend it never happened and keep the blind belief? Or should we learn with it and start to interpret it and analyse it in a smarter way?

What the author says is fact until said otherwise by the author. That's just the truth. He's the one who sets the boundaries of his universe that he created. The databook has several inconsistencies yes, and that's where it can disregarded, but only in those instances.

However, the manga is the prime source material. That's what I go to first, and I always will. However, if I can't find a scan to prove something, I'll use the databook. I consider it valid unless the fact I'm using is an inconsistency.

Even the author has made mistakes about his own universe. The main point is that there is still the possbility of the statement of the databook being incorrect. As it is a solid possibility, we should use our brains to actually think by ourselves to see if it fits the logic and the events in the manga. If it does so, true, most likely. If not, the posbbility of it being incorrect increases.

It's obvious that the databook should still be considered. But it must be interpreted and analysed in a smarter way, instead of just blindly believing in everything it says.

That wouldn't work. You can't assume anything because everyone interprets things, especially manga, in a different way. Just stick to the facts. It Kishimoto's universe. What he says goes, unless he says otherwise. Applying assumptions into a debate is a sure fire way of you getting shot down.

I didn't say anything about assumptions. Read my 1st post. I clearly said what the analysis is supposed to be.

Oh, and when I say analyse, I say: get what is the databook, compare to the events in the manga associated to the logic of the naruto verse, and see if fits. Analysing DOESN'T mean stick your opinion in the middle of it to change it according to what fits your idea.

This is what I said. This is what should be done. It would be very easy to say that the author is always right, unless he himself disproves it, but there is another factor called logic. That can be used when the same author has made mistakes abnout his own work before, as we have seen.
The databook isn't always correct whenever not disproved. There is still a possibility of a new statement being incorrect, as it has happened more than once in the past.
So, instead of taking any sh*t thrown at people as the truth, one could actually think, just a little bit, to see if it's logical.

Everybody loves to say that since the databook has been proven wrong on several occasions, mostly with the stats, that it should 'not be taken seriously'.

I think, personally, this is ridiculous.

Just because Kishi changed some things over the course of the series DOES NOT mean that his word doesn't count over yours.

My opinion is everything in the databook stands until proven false. People love to talk about 'source' material; you don't get closer to the source than what the author actually says.

Wouldn't that make more sense than believing, 'Oh, just because Kakuzu had 4 in speed and Kakashi had 4.5, and Kakuzu blitzed him means we should forgo the entire databook'?

Do you agree or not?

Zabuza in databook is 30.5 while naruto is 26 which means

Zabuza > naruto

The manga supersede the databook.
