Don't get me wrong, it's a good manga and I enjoy it and all, but does it really deserve all the praise it gets? It doesn't in my opinion, there are so many better manga's/anime's thn Attack on Titan out there . What's your take on this?

Definitely overrated. The plot, story line, characters are good. The artwork sucks and the anime is the only thing that kept me watching but it went on break so I had to put up with the shitty drawing.

I agree.
I enjoyed the anime and i only a few chapters behind in the manga as of now.
The praise of AOT does seemed to be misplaced.

The characters are stale and very typical.
Each arc aalthough does not follow the typical shonen arc they are repetive and striaght forward

Either they A get attack by titans or go search for titans and at least one person dies.
They lament on the horrors of death and grief to extermly cheesey lengths at times then go home or drive the titan from there home.

There is no sense of where they might be,any culture or even a guess on what the time period may be.
Becuase no attention is ever paid to the village or events that don't involve the tracking of titans.
The "mysterious" church is the weakest excuse for a mystery i have ever seen.
THe church is only brought up whenever its convient.

I beleive the only reason nothing about the time period, culture and the church is revealed is because its all way too closely connected.
The fact that one has to sprinkle its story in tid bits instead of truly creating ways of keeping th emystery engaging is very medicore
