you know I can write a fanfic about Naruto, using Naruto characters and abilities and basically keeping everything as is just minor tweaking and still claim that "some ideas came from Kishimoto"

TBH this filler episode is the big eye opener.

Indra and Ashura were stupid characters that were derived from Naruto and Sasuke (meaning that Sasuke and Naruto did not take after them but rather they took after Sasuke and Naruto)

This is the same with the Rikudou Sennin (before he was ever Hagoromo and there ever was Hamura).
This is why Hagoromo resembles Naruto more instead of Hamura and why their signs (moon and sun) are opposites.

Hagoromo was the elder (meaning Yin or moon). Elder siblings are normally the ones with the eyes (Uchiha and Hyuga)
Yin is the symbol of imagination or spiritual. Hagoromo was the elder and Sasuke is older than Naruto. He also had rinnegan before Hamura had tenseigan. Hamura has the chakra mode while Hagoromo had sage mode. We never saw Obito and Madara exhibit any signs of using chakra mode. Hamura SHOULD be Yang and Hagoromo Yin. Hagoromo should resemble Sasuke and Naruto resembling Hamura. The signs that they have should be opposite, having Hagoromo carry Yin while Hamura carry Yang.


All these "fanfic" that I just mentioned above is taken from Kishimoto's work. I can claim that these ideas came from Kishimoto.
