I read somewhere that they are taking a break cuz the anime was getting to the manga part fast. And because of that ppl would rather buy the anime and not the manga.

I also was wondering this a while back and made a thread about it. Luckily I can still find the thread, here's the answers I got to answer your question.

The reason it was cancelled was because one of the voice actors was arrested.

In addition, the Anime had caught up to the Manga....most likely there will be a one year or two year break.

For example: Bleach should be returning this summer, and it was said to have been canceled as well.....

Quite a while ago she got caught up in a pretty bad scandal concerning sleeping with 3 of the 4 members of her band.There were after *** pictures too posted online. She was fired for her indecent conduct since your private life in Japan can be anything as long as it stays PRIVATE! Soon after she reflected to the company and when a piece of the company looks like it made it’s own harem the company image will fall so Aya Hirano was fired


2.A lot of fans were mad regarding this scandal . There is also fans posting pictures online showing that they despise Aya Hirano smashing her CD.. She was completely BANNED from being in an anime her contract with Fairy Tail has come to an end on the last Winter meaning Lucy has a missing voice actress so that results the series an inevitable END. This is CONFIRMED. Will she still be able to voice character’s play? Yes. She was fired from her music label not “talent agency” But that will be depending on the company saying a yes or no to her because she has that stigma attached to her sleeping with 3 of the 4 co-workers and posted pictures online.

The person was Lucy's voice actor.

It will bw back once the manga gets a fair advantage over the anime because the ppl who make the manga themselves wrote "TO BE CONTINUED", they ended it with the biggest cliffhanger ever, they continue to make OVAs, ...

And Hiro said himself that's it's not finished, only on hiatus.

Also I keep getting frustrated that people still point the *** Scandal from Aya Hirano out. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. Her *** scandal was from a year BEFORE Fairy Tail ended. And she recently voiced Lucy in the OVA as well. Also it's been said that her work as a voice actor could not be interrupted with the scandal. So get this all for once and all straight. The *** scandall has nothing to do with the break from Fairy Tail.
