Arrow delivered. That what it does and the finale was one of the best episodes of anything ever. Why, you ask? Because everyone was intertwined to form an amazing story. One person in particular was a Mr. Slade Wilson. His entire story this season, the Deathstroke season, is the best season of anything I've ever seen. The storytelling went off the charts because they did an amazing depiction of a character and made you love him and fear him. Whenever Slade appeared, all of his appearances mostly being out of nowhere thus adding the fear factor, he had a presence. You felt intimidated for every other person that room or on the phone with him be it enemy or ally. The line that sums up Slade Wilson and his contribution in Arrow was "You made me a hero." Every hero needs that one villain to make them who they are and for Oliver, it was Slade. Slade, the man he met on the island, formed a bond on the island, hated on the island, and killed on the island. The difference between them is simple. Oliver left the island and Slade didn't, so it's only fitting that Slade's jail cell, his, for now, resting place is in the place he associated with hell, the island. I believe him. He will return. It might not be soon and this will give other characters hopefully as interesting and well written as him to take the spotlight, but one day he will return and it will be one of the best moments in Arrow history.
Speaking of best moments, the best visual highlight was the battle at the tunnel. Heroes standing together. Oliver, Sara, Nyssa (I LOVE Nyssa by the way), Roy, Lance (Pulled a surprise motherucker when he saved Nyssa because he's awesome) , and the rest of the League vs Slade's army. That moment, especially with Roy and a bow in his hand, was amazing. Roy kicked major ass. He must've been training in his comatose state. I know we got an episode and a scene of him training, but man, he was really good. I loved it. Also, #thatmask. Moving up in the world. A City of Heroes in deed.
A City of Heroes always has a city of villains. Last episode, Brother Blood, one of my favorite Arrow characters, was silenced and this week, Isabel joined him in a neck snap out of nowhere that Superman would commend. Not only did that showcase Nyssa and her difference of what needs to be done, it also showcased something interesting with Isabel. Her last words were very similar to something Slade said later on. "Kill me...don't kill me...It doesn't matter." The truth is, does it matter? Slade has left a mark on Oliver's life and everyone in Starling?
One person in particular was Thea Queen, who is no longer Thea Queen. I truly expect her to become Cheshire down the road, which was an idea I saw before and liked. I love her teaming up with Malcolm, whom is incredibly awesome by the way, and I love her having that relationship Cheshire does with Roy. Her turn to Cheshire or some sort of villain makes sense. The city has been attacked twice, her parents are/were evil, and she lost her mom due to lies. Thea lost her innocence, what she had left of it anyways. I do fear, however, for the night club. WHO WILL RUN IT NOW?
I would like to nominate Deadshot because he is, as some of you may know, one of my favorite Arrow characters and I went absolutely nuts when I saw a little second glimpse of him during the preview before Arrow came on. I was hoping the Suicide Squad would show up in the finale, but I was really doubting it, but they did! Not all of them (RIP Shrapnel. We miss you #lolshrapnel), but we got Dig's wife, happy early Father's Day Dig (We're getting a little Diggle!), and DEADSHOT! I feel like that was for me because every season I've lost a character I really liked. First it was Tommy and then Moira and then Blood. I was fearing Sara was next, but luckily she made it out alive and Deadshot is still alive! YEAH BOI. Here is to hoping ARGUS doesn't blow his spine up down the road.
ARGUS SENT OLIVER TO CHINA AND I BELIEVE IT WILL BE AWESOME. I'll miss Russian Hugh Jackman (Shoutout to Kirk Beattie Anthony Gordon Russa and Hugh Jackman), but I'm super excited. Oliver flying planes yo. Also, I'm betting we'll be getting some League episodes in the future, so that means League flashbacks with Sara. By the way, I loved how when Sara "dies" it was similar to how she died in the first place. That was really cool. Be careful of boats Sara.
LANCE. NO. I was expecting someone to die and it might be him, but I'm pretty sure he'll be okay. It was really neat to see someone get injured because of Slade's men. It was realistic, not that superhuman strength men are not. Whether he dies or not, this will hopefully change Laurel. I was really happy she was not a focus in this episode. When she was shown, it was not annoying. She was great. I'm hoping the best for her. When she put on the jacket, I got a little excited honestly. Without having Sara next season, or most of it or atleast some time of it, or Thea, the focus will be on her a little. Anyways, the twist with Felcity, as well as the amazing remembrance of Slade's hidden cameras, was awesome.
Another awesome thing was the entire fight sequence of Slade/Past Slade vs Oliver/Past Oliver. When Slade said "YOU'LL HAVE TO FEEL/IMAGINE THE CITY BURRRRNING!" or something similar to that, I LOVED IT. Seriously, huge props to Manu Bennett and Stephen Amell and the entire cast of Arrow. Truly, a great finale to an amazing, amazing season.
Onwards to the future. What is in Oliver Queen's future? Well, here's hoping he doesn't run for major. Did not turn out well for the last candidates. What is in Starling's future? What is Amanda Waller's plans? What is in store for The Suicide Squad? What new heroes and villains will be joining the city? When will we get little Dig? Will his name be little Dig? I hope so. Season 3 is a new playing field. The game has changed. Oliver Queen is a hero. He is Green Arrow. Now, he just has a few more friends and one of those is a certain speedster, who is a showoff and incredibly awesome. The Flash teaser was fantastic. WHOOOO!
So, thank you to the entire Arrow cast and crew for an amazing, unforgettable season of television. Truly awesome.
