Are you self-aware?

As the title asks, do you consider yourself to be self-aware?

By that I mean are you able analyze yourself in an objective way and understand your own flaws, such as bad habits, limits, social tendencies, irrational reasoning, or detestable behavior?

Are you aware of when you might be acting in a stubborn fashion, such as being on the wrong-side of a dispute, or when you're being too controlling and selfish?

Yes, I'm self-aware. I tend to look at myself objectively.

But what is "objetively"? People Live their Lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That is how they define "Reality" . But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true"? They are merely vague concepts... Their "Reality" may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to be simply living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?

I would describe myself as an extremely cautious human being. Cautious, not just of the things around me, but also cautious of whatever is within me(emotions, logic, thought processes etc.). :yeah:

I always ask myself 'Did I do this right? Did I hurt anybody by saying this? Was it a god idea to do it?' and etc. I try to observe and analyze my behavior. If I did something wrong, I understand it and I try to change it and change myself so I won't do it again.
I understand what you're saying. My objective view of myself is different from yours, and my idea of objectivity differs from yours because we probably don't have similar views. But I believe that my idea of objectivity is close to being right, and I stick to it.

Objectivity means being able to look past your own bias as much as possible. As an example, let's say an artist made a painting. A biased artist would think that his painting is amazing and impressive, and any criticisms would be met with disregard or hostility.

Someone who's objective might be able to see that perhaps his drawing has flaws, such as poor anatomy of the character, or a mediocre blend of color. That person would be able to take criticism as a way to use it to improve his work in the future rather than taking it personally.

I frequently assess my own flaws, but not necessarily objectively (perhaps because I can be overly critical of myself), to the point of being self conscious or even paranoid sometimes. I've often been told not to worry too much about the "flaws" I discovered but all I want is to get rid of them.

I'm self-aware most of the times but my pride tends to get the better of me.

This is a fact...

You don't say.

Anyway

On topic

Maybe you've made it a new years resolution to be self-aware? Maybe you're interested in learning more about self-awareness? Or maybe, just maybe, you have nothing better to do and you decided to ask everyone this question following up the trend of pointless survey-like threads? To answer your question: Yes, i am self-aware. Is there any point to me telling you this?

Lol, laying it all out.

I'm only obnoxious to a few people, and you're a Nazi apologist. Sorry, not sorry.

@bold: im glad im not the only one who sees this. GD has been info collections lately. no offense OP

OT: i am for many reasons. but ive learned that i continuously learn more about myself. it just happens, i get put into a situation beyond my comfort zone or an unfamiliar situation and i learn more things about myself. i think its a lot more interesting to observe why others do things or act a certain way. a lot of the time i just express myself and let whatever happens happen, then i know when certain flaws are useful but i try not to be a narcissist always thinking about myself and my thoughts. im also not afraid to show my flaws because we are all human and have them

Couldn't care less, cause I have nothing prove, nor do I have high expectations of myself. I'm perfect.

Plus, the world doesn't revolve around me.

By that I mean are you able analyze yourself in an objective way and understand your own flaws, such as bad habits, limits, social tendencies, irrational reasoning, or detestable behavior?

If you have something to prove, of course...just sounds like "I'm not good enough"...sounds like pure self-defeat...and being self-absorbed.

Are you aware of when you might be acting in a stubborn fashion, such as being on the wrong-side of a dispute, or when you're being too controlling and selfish?

Who cares if someone is in the "wrong" side of a dispute. Every last one of these mofos think they're right. Controlling mentalities are actually the ones who can't stand a stubborn mentality...cause they simply can't control a stubborn person, or what they think is stubborn. Sometimes it's just a person who thinks for themselves, and that's absolutely allowed...cause most people in this world just want control and domination over the next person, they don't have your better interest.

A lot of people think they know what they're talking about...A LOT.

I claim coincidence on my part lol. I haven't made a non-political thread in a while. But yeah, definitely a trend.
