say it was a normal person with a gun that killed the killer ......... the same story has happen repeatedly with normal people aswell

Then no offense my friend, the example you provided doesn't help much because it wasn't a "normal" person. It was a deputy. Don't get me wrong, I do not mean guns should be outlawed. I just mean that "normal" people should have a harder time getting one. That's all.

Let me play devils advocate. If someone has your wife at gunpoint, you're going to want to stop them. What do you do if you do not have a gun?

Good point!

Ikr...

i bet the redneck hunters all want guns so they can kill helpless animals for fun. But I believe the only guns we need are handguns, and it should be harder for people to obtain guns. Background checks, and everything need to into buying a gun, and I guarantee that it would lower murder rates.

no it would not criminals would still get guns and kill people the only people that this hurts is law abiding people that now literally have to bring a knife to a gun fight. It would also make the black market ritcher

1) you can get a gun cheeper
2) get a gun faster
3) harder to track

so doing that would increase crime and hurt business

reason i used that one was because it was 2 days after the shooting and no-one heard about it ....

read my earlier post about why making it hard to get guns is bad

I have to disagree with you on that. For regular citizens, if you had to go through background checks, thumbprints, etc., it would make getting a gun harder foe a citizen. Now as I stated earlier, people would still get guns through the black market. But just making it that much harder for a regular person could do a lot of good in the long run. But you have a good point!

Personally, I don't think it would hurt law-abiding citizens as much as you think. I mean if everything is fine with them, then getting a gun would be a no brainer for them. It would be those that have a record of mental illness and the such that would be losing out. But I do see your point.

There was a man not too long ago whose children were having a sleepover or something, so there were a bunch of kids in the house. Three armed robbers entered the house and basically had a shoot on sight policy. The father had a firearm though, he did get shot, but currently one of the robbers is dead and the other two hospitalized with him. The man saved his family because he had a gun.

The two largest massacres on record were done with gasoline and the other a knife. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Your absolutely right, it is our decisions that hurt people, but guns are one of the main weapons that people use to hurt other people. But what you said is also what I was arguing about. I think all we need is a handgun, if that guy didn't have a handgun, he couldn't have protected everyone.

If guns become illegal the same thing will happen with drugs or when alcohol was illegal
There's going to be gun dealers and good people aren't going to do anything illegal to get guns only bad people
The only good thing is I can get a gun from a gun dealer without waiting 3 days or any other bullshit

If you take away guns, then that means that the bad guys will have them and we won't. It just puts guns on the black market and criminals will still have them. The #1 cause of death, especially in the US, is due to traffic accidents...so why don't we outlaw motor vehicles? Or maybe outlaw cellphones so teenagers can't talk/text and drive? How about making alcohol illegal again so people won't drink and drive?

When the government makes something illegal it always creates a far worse problem than what was there before...maybe we need to stop making things illegal and start making others legal instead. I'm just saying we should try something new for a change and not continue on the path that is obviously not working. ;)

Nicely said again. But the beginning part is what I said earlier in the thread. I don't want to take away guns, because I still want to be protected, but I don't think we need assault rifles and all that jazz. And I said earlier too that the bad guys would just keep them and use the black market, and we would be helpless. What do you think we should legalize?

they should make guns harder to get but not outright ban them and as for the gun crimes in england i'll use mexico as a counter argument in mexico it is illegal for civilians to own guns and because of this the only people with guns are police and the drug cartels and the police and half of the police are probably dirty

the shooter in connecticut broke over 40 laws so tell me more laws could have prevented that and the guns he used were illegally obtained
