[Discussion] Are you for gun control? Why or Why not?

After the shooting in Connecticut, I think the only guns civilians need are handguns and we have no need for assault rifles and things like that.
So what are your views on gun control?

I've never been to big of an Obama supporter since i'm Libertarian.

I think its too late to take away guns. Now, if the took them away, then the criminals would just keep theirs, and the innocent would be helpless, and people would just buy them of the black market anyway. But when they made the second amendment, they were thinking of militias.

Oh I don't mean take away guns, sorry if I worded that post poorly. I mean that the methods of obtaining a permit should be tighten up. I agree with you 100%, there is no way to keep people from getting guns if they truly want them. But these incidents have been caused by legally acquired guns.

Let me play devils advocate. If someone has your wife at gunpoint, you're going to want to stop them. What do you do if you do not have a gun?

i bet the redneck hunters all want guns so they can kill helpless animals for fun. But I believe the only guns we need are handguns, and it should be harder for people to obtain guns. Background checks, and everything need to into buying a gun, and I guarantee that it would lower murder rates.
