Everyone is a nerd on something. If you are really into cars you are a car nerd. Video games,video game nerd. Fashion,Fashion Nerd.
Pretty much anyone who has a hobby is a nerd assuming he checks the updates for it and knows a lot about it.

Nerd isn't a degrading word imho,it's like teasing sbd for their hobby and its quite stupid to think that reading Manga is deterior to being on FB all day long or to know each and every fact about that football team. Its just another hobby.

i think dork is the appropriate term. nerd refers mostly to student/academic achievements. some people are both, some not.

I guess I am a " nerd " but it is a broad term. I love manga/anime, but I still hang out with people from all groups. I still play sports, chess, and make beats. It's your own interest.

What you said is true though, it usually is accepted by the " lesser social class ", but what's wrong with liking it?

There are many definitions of nerd, like all of you said.

Some consider liking cartoons/games/star wars/etc... a nerd, while some consider being good a math a nerd and so on.

See, I love the first half of those, but am an idiot in math. So, I think it means whatever people consider nerdy. I don't know.

i can admit im a nerd, but im not one of those kids that everyone makes fun of and are socially awkward lol, i go to parties occassionaly and hang out with the what soceity call the 'popular kids' but i also have friends that are really smart and have the same tastes in games and anime aswell, and even my girlfriend knows im a nerd but that doesn't stop us from going out places and having a good time lol , i think the whole sterotype thing is stupid lol
