Plausible. Makes sense. Remember Tsunade also comments on Naruto's features. If I'm not mistaken she says that, "he's not as good looking as minato." A relative or grand parent would definitely make a comment like this.

If that's the case then Tsunade is a total deadbeat Grandmother. She paid absolutely no attention to her grandson for the majority of his life. Tsunade also badmouthed Naruto and Minato to Jiraiya saying Naruto was even dumber than the other kid who used to follow Jiraiya around. Jiraiya would've likely talked about Tsunade with Minato then. Sorry it doesn't make any logical sense.

When Naruto first met her, Tsundae definitely had unresolved issues. She was an alcoholic! They revolved around the premature death of her lover, brother and quite possibly her son. She became jaded. She lost faith in others.
Tsunade was cynical of anyone with dreams, especially those who want to become Hokage for reasons mentioned above. Thankfully, Naruto changed her heart. She has FAITH in Naruto! There are so many examples of this in the manga. Actually one sec ... BAM!

I dont really believe this theory but with that being said I see it as a definite possibility so I feel the need to explain my arguments against some of the statements a few of you have made:
1. Age...tsunade being around 54 and naruto being around 16 does make the age difference between them, well...cutting it a little close, I mean since its a family oriented manga I can't see Kishi writing tsunade had gotten pregnant too young...but if minato is 36 (if he were alive) that would mean tsunade got pregnant at 18, so that is still too young but it would be deemed as fairly acceptable.
2. Your argument that the third hokage was not a senju is rather pointless to be honest, because it is obvious the 1st and 2nd thought of him as family and would therefore allow it anyway.
3. I could DEFINETLY see Kishi keeping this a secret for so long, totally blindsiding us with the idea that tsunade is narutos grandmama...so no I don't think if this were the case we would have read about it already.
Tsunade and Naruto have a strong family resemblance when it comes to personality, the reasons are obvious...hot tempered, knuckleheaded and all that, it makes perfect sense to me. Also I could see Tsunade leaving the village and making Jiraiya promise to take care of Minato. With all this being said I still greatly doubt this theory and will be doing more research on it so I can post my own thread stating where I stand on this theory in the future.

And how good of a godfather is Jiraya for leaving Naruto alone? I'd say Jiraya is even bigger jerk than Tsunade. Atleast Minato had a family and care.
Why would you say she pays absolutely no attention to Naruto? I think they have one of the strongest bonds in the series. Also, look how disrespectful Naruto can be to Tsunade and get away with it.

well in your post minato DOES say turning your back on the country, on the village, its JUST AS BAD AS ABANDONING A CHILD well at least from minato's POV ...... and the theory says tsunade did leave him....

I agree, don't get me started on Jiraiya man. Let's be somewhat real though if this was you or me and we were orphaned who would we expect to take care of us...our pervert Godfather or our Grandmother?
I didn't mean to say she pays no attention to Naruto. I meant to say she paid no attention to Naruto for the majority of his life. I'll go correct that now. Thanks for pointing that out, I really need to proof read.

It's not too far fetched. If Tsunade dies within upcoming manga, she prob say something lol. maybe a flashback.
the thing that I don't understand, in general is why is tsunade's name senju at all?
Naruto's name is uzumaki. why not namikaze? cause u take the moms last name.
Hashirama's kid would then be an uzumaki. The only way that their child could grow up and have a senju child, is if hashirama senju and mito uzumaki's uzumkai child had kids with a senju.
all of this incest may explain why naruto is slightly slower than the rest
