Gates users aren't immune but they could forcibly break it. Tsukuyomi's effects are felt in real life as Kakashi fell down the moment it hit him. Normal MS genjutsu also has the ability to weaken an opponent's body by trauma and fear as Sasuke showcased against Cee. Pain really isn't the answer to breaking genjutsu, stamina and Kai Release is. Jiraiya said if you apply more power to break the genjutsu; it'll be unveiled. He didn't say more chakra. Chakra absolutely has nothing to do with Genjutsu breaking; the premise of your OP itself is wrong; No way in hell, gates users are immune to genjutsu; they'll break it but against powerful genjutsu users like shisui and itachi; they're as fuked as they can get. Stamina produces power; people with more stamina and ability to tap out the power from converting thier stamina are the best candidates in breaking out. Shikamaru's Shadow has a unique property; it can be mentally controlled; essentially being a partner to help break out the genjutsu; pain wasn't really the breaking mechanism there; kurenai broke out of her own genjutsu; Gai called the entire Black Ops forces like a pitiful coward when he found out his opponent was Itachi; so much for the immunity bullshīt. This Itachi never revealed his MS abilities at first; Gai got scared by a 3 tomoe Itachi; any fool can break out of genjutsu if this třash idea really works; Genjutsu wouldn't be called more advanced version of Ninjutsu by Jiraiya if that's the case. Cee was under body pain so much he became paralysed according to himself; Orochimaru was in body pain; so no way pain is the code-breaker here. Tsukuyomi isn't to be considered genjutsu; it's effects are real according to Itachi and Kakashi who suffered it first hand; Kakashi claimed one cannot break from Itachi's MS genjutsu; let alone tsukuyomi to Naruto and Chiyo.
