Are all humans equal, or are some above others?


Do you believe someone like Bill Gates is above the bum by the Empire State Building?


Or do you believe that everyone is equal and no one is above another?



My belief:

I believe that all humans are born equal, they all have the potential to be great.

The only point in which I consider someone to be under me is when they waste their potential to be something less than what they can be. i.e your average bum

Pretty coincidental to my signature, but that sounds like a meritocracy. A system in which advancement is based on individual ability or achievement. In which people who waste their potential, are inferior. A meritocracy proposes a system where people are rewarded based on their efforts, and if everyone can start on equal footing with the same opportunity to advance, then the results are just.

Though some studies have shown that our motivation, work ethic, and conscientious drive is outside of our control. Therefore, a system which rewards effort in this way is not completely just, because effort and hard work is not something we can claim complete credit for.

Shortly put: We aren't all equal. Some people will have to work harder than others to reach certain goals.

Everyone should be treated equally, but when it comes down to life, not everyone has the same opportunities as others do.

How about the bum that crashed his mom's car, flunked out of college, and is living in the streets against the guy who went against all odds and created a successful career out of borderline nothing?

Would you REALLY put these people on the same level? Are these people equal?

Obviously, the bum and the millionaire aren't the same, socially or financially, but that doesn't mean that we should treat the millionaire better than the bum. I see your point, but I view this subject differently.

She has experienced emotions, just not love or hatred. Also even if she does have other emotions that doesn't mean she is equal with everyone because there are different levels of sadness and sorrow, and pain.

As we age, those who improve their human anatomy thru exercise become physically and biologically superior to those who let their bodies waste away.

Athlete's tend to be physically and mentally more stable and superior to those who don't do anything.

By the way, in case you guys didn't know, Bill Gates stole the idea of Windows from Steve Jobs. He helped create the OS for Apple, but then cut and ran, starting up his own company. Does him being heartless and selfish make him superior? Hardly. He dies like all the rest, and will beg for his life when the time comes.

The thing people forget it is, none of this actually have anything to do with life itself. This is a system created from our minds, this reality is something we made up. In the beginning there was no laws, no social statuses, no economy, there was nothing but life. These societies today, however beneficial they are, were still created through imagination. Therefore, someone graduating from college and obtaining a degree is only as important as our minds created it to be.
