Background Info.
History:
I have yet to figure out what exactly I am. The definition of a prodigy... or another failure? The cure... or the very source of the disease? Am I the ultimate hero, or the greatest villan? The pinnacle of virtue, or simply the greatest weaver of a web of lies? Most of all, am I actually the helping hand, or is that too simply what I wish to be, and not what I truly am? I cannot know who I am, only what I want, what I believe. I believe that peace can be achieved, though how exceeds the knowledge of all. And I want, my only true wish, is to see my brother survive, no, not to merely survive, to see him live life freely, without the burdens of regret and his hands covered in the blood of his own people. I wish for him to live life for what it is worth, even if it means making him despise me.
Even if it means making him kill me.
I was immediately born into a family in which I would be placed upon a throne: the Uchiha clan, as well as the son of the leader of the Konoha Police Corps, a group run by the Uchiha. My childhood contains nothing worth complaining about, I was a prodigy, even by the standards of this famed clan. Graduating from the ninja academy at the age of 7, and activating my sharingan for the first time merely a year after that. I became a chuunin at ten, and when I was only thirteen, I was already the captain of an Anbu Squad. I always looked out for my younger brother, Sasuke, I wanted to make him stronger, to help him grow. But suddenly, the distance between my brother and I widened, and the distance between myself and a certain powerful Uchiha shrunk.
During the time that I was still with the Uchiha clan, I met Madara Uchiha, who had been thought deceased a long time ago. However, he still roamed the earth, and had more knowledge on the sharingan then I could imagine. The Uchiha clan was not using the sharingan to its full capabilities; there was one more stage, the final stage, the Mangekyou
sharingan.
Just one thing, I had to kill my best friend.
As I grew, I discovered more about my clan’s relationship with Konoha, and a very shaky one it was. The elders were afraid that my clan would rebel in light of their past together. And I was put in the middle, at that moment, I was forced to choose: my family, or my village, both of which I held closely to my heart. I would have to kill the entire clan.
Eventually, I came to the decision to go through with the massacre, along with Uchiha Madara. I started with Shisui, my closest friend. Upon his death, I gained the Mangekyou sharingan. The bodies of my people lay across the streets and sidewalks within minutes, the area in which they lived seeming almost barren, and their blood covered my hands. Even the blood of my own parents. The only person I refused to kill, who I practically begged the hokage to allow me to spare him, was my brother.
After the massacre, I joined the ranks of Akatsuki, and was partnered with Kisame Hoshigaki. Kisame and I both held a mutual respect for one another, be it because of our intentions, motives, or skills I am not quite sure. Kisame and I worked for Akatsuki capturing bijuu and such, but the most eventful was my return to Konoha in search of the nine-tailed bijuu. During that time, I knew that I would meet up with my brother again. He relived the days way back when the deed was done, back to when I killed our family; perhaps I did it to strengthen his hatred for me and his resolve to kill me. Or perhaps Akatsuki’s members, Kisame in particular, wore off on me. Our stay there was short however, Jiriya soon appeared, knowing that we couldn’t defeat him; we left, leaving only the black flames in our wake.
Years later I knew that Sasuke and I would once again battle. I simply continued my work with Akatsuki while he relentlessly trained. It soon reached my ear that Sasuke killed and escaped Orochimaru’s grasp, and defeated Deidara soon after forming his own diminutive group. After killing Deidara, Sasuke’s path immediately led straight to me.
Meanwhile, I had my own problems to attend to. My overuse of the Mangekyou sharingan was taking its toll on me, I was suffering from a disease and I soon went blind. The perfect excuse to face Sasuke for the final time.
The perfect excuse... for me to sensibly die.
Sasuke had greatly improved since our last battle, but still was not quite as strong as I let him think he was. Every genjutsu, he fell for, every illusion that I wanted him in, he entered. I had to push him though; I had to push him to the fullest so that he could finally be released of the burden of the curse mark. Eventually, we both ran short of chakra, and I was running short of time, I had to release the curse mark before I died. I resorted to my final and most powerful jutsu: the Susanoo.
Susanoo managed to draw Orochimaru out due to the fact that Sasuke had just as little, possibly less, chakra as me. My business with Orochimaru was finished quickly, for a single strike with Susanoo’s ultimate blade vanquished him, releasing my brother of the curse mark.
Only one thing left to do.
I wanted to give Sasuke my powers, that he might live the fruitful life that had always evaded my grasp. I cannot know how he would use this powers, would he return to Konoha as the hero I wished him to be, or would he find that vengeance left an empty hole in his heart, and somehow fill that hole by finding something else to avenge? I could not know, but I did not have time to care, if my brother could live life for what it was worth, then I regret nothing.
Perhaps in this final slumber, I will unravel all of these questions that I could never figure out alone.
