Now, I got this idea from someone else's thread, so to whoever that was thank you for the inspiration.

But basically what I've got is this.

Have you ever noticed that the Root members are constantly "betraying" the Leaf, but are actually attempting to help it?

For instance, you have Itachi and Sai. Itachi assumed his role in the Akatsuki as a Root member, and everybody thought he was down right evil. Turns out he was still loyal to the Leaf.

Sai seemingly deserted the rest of Team 7 to join Orochimaru. However, this was again just another seemingly "betrayl" that was an attempt to help the Leaf.

So why not Orochimaru? He was a member of the Root. Perhaps he too had a goal that SEEMED like betrayl, but had a hidden motive for helping the Leaf?

Some might argue that Orochimaru has commited too heinous of crimes, going as far as to kidnap young ninjas and civilians to experiment on them. However, I would say to this, The Root has been KNOWN to use extreme/morally wrong methods of assisting the Leaf.

Maybe the experiments were just another attempt to assist the Leaf, no matter the methods?

In summary,

I think Orochimaru may not nescassarily be a GOOD person, but that as a part of Root he took actions that were seemingly going to help the Leaf in the end.

I think your definition of good is different than mine.
But anyway, this is some delicious food for thought.

Yes, something seems fishy with Orochimaru and his motives for destroying Konoha, and Sasuke asking him about it and all the silence..., It made me think the same thing. Nice thread.

Orochimaru's "side" is a third party--He constantly interferes in Akatsuki's affairs, while still feels animosity towards Konoha and her affiliates. Orochimaru just wants to create lots of jutsu and be left alone. I say that, yet it's not so simple...

The word 'Good' is subjective. However it is possible that Orochimaru is an anti-hero or a similar case. Maybe it has to do with a secret case hatched again by the mischievous Danzō Shimura.

Your sig is soooooo true. They cant take care of stuff that really matters, but when you "trip" they make a hullabaloo about it, but to your thread, there is a hint of him actually being good to an extent.

Pretty cool theory, would be a great plot twist. At least I think it would.
