i actually agree... its been shown in the manga that if u underestimate your opponent that you get f*cked up hard... admittingly tho minato was known enough not to have this advantage since there was flee on sight orders... but if he met someone that was completely oblivious to his status and had no idea who he is... you wouldnt think he would be such a deadly ninja and so you would let your guard down

So he was looking at Obito? Why didn't Obito use a genjutsu then? He could have done it. DOES HE? no. Because then that'd reveal he was an Uchiha. No where in the Manga does Minato know that Obito/Tobi is an Uchiha, the thought he was Madara, but quickly dismissed that thought. So during the entire fight, Minato did not know he was fighting an Uchiha. There are plenty of ways to bring a tailed beast under a genjutsu.
