I am hoping the Naruto Mafia Game starts today or tomorrow! Been very anticipating how the community here plays the game. My old group, I have a meta so it has gotten boring over the dozens of games played. Everyone knows each other or believes to know each other, so opinions cannot be persuaded lol

The Game host rules were updated to fix a few oversights. The updated rules are in bold.

Rules for game hosts
  • All game related information that you provide to players whether in public or private must be true.
  • There must be a player list in your game thread and it must be updated regularly.
  • It is optimal to distribute roles randomly through a Random Number Generator like

  • It is a requirement to post a proper Countdown which shows the time period of a Game Phase. You can use

  • You need to make clear what type of Lynch system you are going to use in your Game.
  • You are not allowed to change the setup of your game when it is running. Contact a Game Manager if you consider it necessary.
  • It is advised that you have at least three substitute players before you start your game.
  • It is advised that you use substitute players when dealing with inactive player slots. Mod-kill should only be used as a last resort when no substitute players are available. This is because a mod-kill can imbalance your game.
  • It is advised that you do not give inactive player roles to members who have been lynched or killed in your game. This gives the member an unfair advantage through prior knowledge attained through his previous role. Please contact a Game Manager in case you want to do this.
  • Mafias and Cults must have a means of communication between the faction members outside of the game thread.
  • A Cult cannot recruit players belonging to Mafia factions and other Cult factions.
  • If a Cult uses it's recruit ability, then this must be mentioned in the game write-ups by the host. Example: "The Cult has recruited a player to it's side!"
  • Using "Bastard Element(s) in your game is forbidden and if used will give you a strike. Bastard Elements, in this context, are defined as elements which go beyond a reasonable measure of expectation for a player to have. If you are unsure if your game contains Bastard Elements, ask a Manager to review the game beforehand.
  • If you want to clarify some issue in your game, contact a Game Manager.
  • To the above, Do not contact Game Managers who are playing in your game. You might have to give classified information and doing so will break your game.

The vanilla mafia game only consists of Town VS Mafia. If players and hosts want more complex games then there is the option for hosts to use Serials, multiple Anti-Town factions and Independents.

The Cult is a bastard faction but here it is allowed. This was mainly done to add spice and fun to games. However the faction is imbalanced and it is important to add hosting restrictions to ensure that games having Cults do not become a mess.

Other than these there is also Custom factions which allow hosts to make their own unique factions to spice up the game even further. With Custom factions, the possibilities for variety are endless.

With so many options available, there is no way that mafia games could become stale or boring without Bastard Games. If someone thinks so then that person should take a break from Mafia.

Moving on, Bastard elements imbalance the game severely and make the game unfun and frustrating to play. They are banned in Normal Games for a reason. A normal Game has 24 hour phases and it could run for two weeks to a month. Players who play in Normal Games invest thier time and effort in these games. As such balanced normal mafia games are very important to make sure that every player who plays is satisfied with the game. This is why a review system is in place to balance Normal Games.

In Turbo Games, balance is not an issue as the games take place in a short period of time. If Bastard elements are used in Turbo Games with players been notified beforehand then there is no problem.

Will a Normal Bastard Mafia Game happen? Yes it will if players are interested in playing in one. However, it's too early for a Bastard Game as this mafia section has been established recently. A Normal Bastard Game will probably happen after 10 Normal games have been completed.
