My friend wants to get into One Piece but doesnt know whether to start off with the Manga or Episodes. Know I dont have enough experience with either so which would you suggest.

i think he should start reading the manga first, then when he gets to the time-skip start watching it. Because the first dozen of op episodes are 80's or 90's style, but if he's cool watching it like that he can.

it's better to go with manga first because it's more true to the story
But I started watching Naruto anime before I knew there was even a manga xd Still worked out well because I got to read all of shippuden b4 watching it play

Depends:
If you want to keep up with the current anime fast I suggest you read it and only watch the epic moments in OP (Stickied Thread about this) until you reach the end.

If you don't really care about catching up you can watch everything cause it's alot funnier that way.
