There is actually a lot of moral, metaphysical and philosophical principles in Naruto - especially. Whether it comes out of a total scatterbrain like Naruto - or a theoretical mind like Itachi, there is actually a lot of take home points in Naruto. I think anime becomes childish because there is censorship...
If you read the manga you will probably notice more blood and stuff like that. But it's because they aren't allowed to show it on TV, therefore they change some things and it becomes more... "childish"

(I'm only talking about the blood/nudity btw. When it comes to philosophical stuff, then some animes aren't childish)
