That's how it works after you aquire the EMS. If you activate it you go straight from 3T to EMS.

I understand that but they made it look like Izuna's death lead to him awakening EMS. Like he never had MS at all and this tragedy lead to him going straight to EMS.

Didn't they show him in front of Izuna's deathbed, so technically he had MS before and just transplanted Izuna's eyes. Although the anime didn't really show that Izuna had MS to begin with.

Edit: I believe Madara had MS when he was fighting Hashirama also.
