Use some logic, Uzumaki are Ashura's descendants hence why Nagato was said to be related to Senju, technically Kushina and Karin are also Senju.

But there's a clear difference between both lineages and Nagato is from the Uzumaki lineage, there's no debate about that. BZ's statement was just a way to confirm Naruto's clan having the same origin as Hashirama's clan.
