And if I may ask what country are you from?
I'm from Finland.

So you're calling me obese? And now you want me to post pictures of myself? That does not seem wise as I have no idea who you are. So you live in the United States? If not, you can't really comment on our "Obesity scale" as I've already pointed out there's a high probability it's different than your own.

Never did I ask you to post pictures of yourself. And I said everyone who is considered by the statistics obese, probably is. I don't know for sure about you 'cause I haven't seen you but then again I don't care.
Darthlawsuit already answered why I can comment on your obesity scale. If it's that different than my own then I need to re-think it but I have doubt it is. Sure my country have obese people too, but you guys are at the worlds top 3 and that's why this thread.

I'm asking you to back your claim that U.S. citizens are so damn obese. I'm not even sure why you care. Fine, go on thinking that you know everything about "Americans," but you do realize there are 2 Americas? North and South America? I've been guessing you meant North America, but specifically the United States this whole time as I cannot accurately comment on the systems in place for other countries.

Dude, I'm not the only one who thinks like that. Only backing up for my claims is those statistics. And obviously I meant United States.

How you perceive U.S. citizens based on unknown statistics and the word "obese:"

I don't see many obese people in this picture, but according to those statistics, 1 out of every 3 is obese. Now, they may be "obese" according to the charts, but are they really? Nope. What if I said Italians only eat Spaghetti, French people only eat Escargo, the Germans are still against Jews, and Russians only drink vodka, and I meant it? You'd probably say: "Stupid American, this is not true. I live here."

Hey I'm not a doctor. Just saying there arent that many obese consider by the charts in other countries.

And why putting words in my mouth? I'm not hating American's, you seem to be getting mad?..Hey I'm just interested about these cultural differences and that why you are so high in the obese charts made by professional people.

Mad? No. Just wondering why you keep casting aside my point that our system is flawed and if yours is similar, then yours is also flawed. There are so many variables involved in determining the percentage of obesity for an entire nation and I'm pointing out that the system currently in place for doctors to determine if a person is "obese," where more than likely the statistics for the U.S. came from, is a broken system. So if that's not accurate, the numbers probably aren't accurate. That's all I'm saying. Our own military recognizes that system is fallible.

Well I can't say nothing to that..at this point I'll just have to trust that the guys wiser than me have made reasonably accurate charts.

Btw, what is your branch of service / unit in the military? I've been in the military too in here.

I eat just about anything. I drink a 2 or 3 cans of mountain dew a day. I eat a nice home cooked meal every night for dinner. Like once a month I will go eat some fast food, which fast food. I eat a lot of canned soup and sandwiches as snacks between meals. Hmmm....lets see, I love chinese food, but rarely get it anymore.

I think a lot of the obesity comes from laziness rather than diet. A lot of Americans have it too easy, and there is so many programs that the government provides that allow people to live off the government and not work, and so many jobs that don't require any physical effort, and a lot of American's hobbies are based on TV, internet, and video games. between that and the fast food restaurant on every corner in the country we have a lot of fatties here. I myself have a high speed metabolism and will never get fat, but not everyone is so lucky.

I shouldn't do this but I don't care. For a REAL example to people. Look at my picture tell me if you think I'm obese by the standards you know?? Better yet what you think Obese it.

You must be registered for see images

Now wanna know how flawed the system is? I'm considered morbidly obese just because of my height. I'm 5'2 and because of that my BMI stands at 32%. Hardly fair considering my diet, and I still have to lose 20+ more pounds to even be considered for the military again. That's how messed up the system is. You can carry your fat really well like I do you can have all the muscle in the world and still be obese. Tell me does that seem fair to you? We may have unhealthy food but super huge people you don't see that too often. Mostly stick thin girls.

I got denied by the Military for my second contract because I'm too "obese". According to my measurements I'm 5'2. 14, 38, 32, 34. GO into any BMI calculator online and enter those in you will end up seeing what Silent is taking about.

About the pic, hard to tell when you pull your stomach in but really I'm not here to say which NB person is obese or not. And obese doesn't mean "super huge". It defines person who's weight is unhealthy for him/her. But you can easily answer to your own question by telling your body fat percentage?

But I don't get those measurements of yours..5'2 to my guessing is feet? So 158cm. But what are those 4 digits after that? What is your weight (in kg) ?

And I just used finnish BMI calculator. Same as in US. Height/weight.

I can see the problem with that for REALLY muscular people, but rarely there are that muscular people who are considered obese. In fact I don't know any muscular obese people. I just know obese people.

Mhmm. You are so stereotypical. Have you ever even been to America?

Are you talking to me or Silent? If me then no I haven't been there. As for the word stereotypical, does trusting a official research and statistics mean I am stereotypical?

Well America does overproduce on nearly everything that involves food except Organic Foods.
The steroids used to produce/clean the food actually has some sort of chemical that triggers... How do I say this... It makes people eat more or something similar to that.
Even Vegetables are starting to be made with chemicals and pesticides which sort of takes out the nutrients or creates false nutrients that disrupts the body's normal fatty acid intake.

Also you need to consider that in America, Media is No.1
McDonalds have a new burger? Commercial and normal people who watch TV as family time will go and try it out.
So you can say its part of the plan.
And since everyone likes to watch TV in the US, why not show some food when the news is on break.

So many things factor into this.

The United States Coast Guard. We're a small branch so we get a lot of jokes, but we've fought in just about every conflict our country has been involved in. We also have been given law enforcement power so we do a lot of different things and that adds to the confusion of what exactly we do. Primary mission is Search & Rescue, followed by Law Enforcement. We are considered to be in the military because we are an Armed Service and we do get deployed.

I'm not necessarily saying our people aren't obese, just that those charts were made YEARS ago and we still use it. It's not accurate so those statistics aren't necessarily trustworthy, but that doesn't mean we don't have a lot of obese people! xd

If that was aimed at me (because I am quoted), then yes, I live in America  Sadly, I can't say I've left the country except to go to the Bahamas but that's not far from Florida.

Hmm, interesting point about the food "manipulation". I'd like to see an article or research about those steroids and chemicals you're talking about.
Then again if the prosedures are same all around the world and America is only one with serious problems with obesity I see no reason to blame chemicals.

Not meaning to insult but I never thought Coast Guard would be considered part of the military. I would see the discipline being different there. But respect to you nonetheless. I wouldn't mind working in the Coast Guard.

Yeah well it kinda is pointless arguing about how those statistics were made and are they up to date 'cause the point is American's have major obesity problem no matter how you look at it. It's pointless trying to explain how there could be some flaws in the system. It won't change much.
I doubt your country and the professionals who did those charts want to have obesity problem and are willing to be at top 3 in worlds most obese countries just because they didn't do their work right..c'mon those are just marginal errors you're talking about but the issue still stands.

America does have a lot of obese people. It's probablay because of our increasingly sedentary lifestyle and availability of fast food. More kids are playing video games instead of going outside and playing and many adults sit behind a desk all day and get no activity.

Here's the thing though. My GP told me this for dieting tips and such.
(No I'm not obese, he was explaining why other Americans are and how Polynesians are sometimes confused as being obese etc etc)
He stated that there's a chemical that causes such manipulation in majority of the Meat and vegetables produced in America.
So I can't provide an article sorry, but I can't prove with my word alone.
I trust my Doctor, but I have no way of proving it to you.
Then again if the prosedures are same all around the world and America is only one with serious problems with obesity I see no reason to blame chemicals.
I'm not blaming the chemicals however, most 1st world countries are different when it comes to produce. America is the only country that over produces Meat, because of the steroids.
Like I stated, many things factor in to this.
Media, over production and other things.

No offense taken. It's a common view because during peace-time and usually war-time we are out saving lives and enforcing law, not fighting. I usually just say we are an Armed Service of the United States because we are authorized to carry weapons both during war-time and peace-time. We just are able to use our weapons outside of war-time!

Most times, under war, we are transferred from the Department of Homeland Security to the Department of the Navy. We will then paint our ships, don military fatigues, and assist the Navy in several ways, but we do have our own units that often get deployed in their own capacity with their own fatigues and gear. We're just a small branch of the military so we often get overlooked. Some times that's good, some times it's bad, but we do our job regardless and it never ends whether in war or out of war.

OT: Yeah, we have some fat people, but they'll shorten their lives by eating themselves to oblivion. U_U
