Amatratsu

So, I have two questions about Amatratsu. If you can help, please do, and if you can't, at least don't put stupid pictures, like 'your argument is invalid', or 'facepalm', ect.

1) If someone were to look through a window and use Amatratsu, would the window burn, or what they're actually looking at. Because it has been stated that Amatratsu burns whatever the user is looking at, but there have been times where it looks like the flames almost travel in a path from the eye to what the user is trying to burn, so it confuses me somewhat.

2) On a simmilar topic, if the black flames of Amatratsu burns everything within the user's sight, then why is it that whenever Amatratsu is used, it's very concentrated, and not very widespread (the exception is when Itachi used it in the final fight against Sasuke, but even then, it seemed to travel in a path, and it was only widespread because Itachi used it a LOT).

If I misread something in the manga, please just point it out, and do not put those noob pics. If you have something to say about this, you can type it much easier than you can find a picture about it.

Yeah, exactly! Like if Itachi sees a whole forest behind Sasuke, would Sasuke burn and the forest or just Sasuke, since he SAW the forest.

I honestly think that Kishimoto didn't even think that deeply when he created.

Honestly I think it comes down do how Kishi wanted it to be. I don;t think it's as complex as you are looking at it. I mean have we ever seen Sasuke or Itachi look through a window to burn someone...no, so how would we know the answer to that.

The only way we will know more about anything in the narutoverse is to continue to read.

1) i am guessing that the window would burn/melt what ever i think its just like looking in a mirror you are not going to set yourself on fire by looking at your reflection the mirror would melt/burn
2) Good point i also have another thing to add to that i eyes cannot fixate on one thing we constantly look at numerous things in just a few microseconds

and i have a Q for you why would you be using Amatratsu through a window i mean would you want to use that somewhere you can flee fast like outside or in a large room so you dont catch on fire? just asking a legit Q

I see your question, and I'll raise you another few (after answering it).

Let's say you are bound in place by some jutsu, or wires, ect., and you can only look forwards. Before you is the guy you're fighting (you see him; Amatratsu burns what you see), but between you is a sheet of glass (which you don't see, you see through; Amatratsu burns what you see, thus my confusion).

Now, my questions.

Assuming the flames travel from your eye to their destination, how fast do they travel to make it seem as though they just appear on the target? Seeing as fire is pure energy (no physicalness to it), would it travel at the speed of light?

Amatratsu was said to be 7 times hotter than the surface of the sun; yet there are survivors. If a question doesn't arise when reading that sentance, look up the surface of the sun's temperature, and then what a human can survive, and see if questions don't come flying up.

If your eyes cannot fixate on things for more than a few microseconds, then how, pretel, can a user concentrated their Amatratsu? Did Kishi mean that it only burnt what the user focused on? Because that's the only reasonable explination so far; a poor translator/word choice on Kishi's part.

i guess it can burn anything within the user's area of vision, not everything at the same time... or perhaps it could burn everything but would depend on how much chakra the user invest in it... and if the targeted object or person is moving at high speed, then your eyes would need to follow them, which is why the black flames would also look like they're following the target rather than simply burning him...

well...sasuke did look through "something" to burn danzou, he looked through susanoo...which seems to be a solid lol, i know its his own jutsu but...its still "something"

i think it would burn the window because even tho hes looking thru it the flames don't spawn off what hes looking at i thought when sasuke used it vs raikage and gaara they looked like the chakra kind of shot out of his eye and the first thing it hit lit on fire thats why raikage could dodge it and gaaras sand blocked it, so it would hit the window first since its there just see-through.

i think his eye is only aimed on one spot and the fire starts in his focus like a person rather then a whole crowd at once, and lighting a huge area up would cause horrible damage to the eye and alot of chakra since its an MS jutsu, EMS removes the dmg to the eye problem but itachi seemed to really drop in strengh after he chased sasuke with amaterasu and lit up that huge area.

atleast its not another tobi ID thread or pain vs itachi or something thats brought up every other day because someone just signed up and didn't use the search to find the last thousand of those threads.

yeah, if it were 100% realistic sasuke (and the samurai and raikage's arm) when his wing was cliped by amaterasu should have been melted near instantly, and jiraiya shouldn't have been able to get that close to them in the hotel >.> but for some reason raikage had his arm on fire and could concentrate to fight still and the samurai's armor didn't melt between the time sasuke used it on him and kankuro pulled the armor off, the flames seem to burn rather slowly.

So just hold a water bottle up to your face it covers your vision and
when you throw it straight ahead of you it gets smaller and
gets more precise. If that makes any sense aha.

Well yeah, actually i wondering about the same thing... Perhaps susanoo is condensed form of chakra... You know, sasuke can move within it while others can't touch him from outside... And amaterasu can't burn chakra... And yeah, it seems that flames are not as hot as described, they burn pretty slowly... Well its like some1 said, its upto kishi to decide... But if we consider balance of story even in fiction, there are a lot of gaps and holes in the plot...
1) Like how did kakashi become a chuunin at the age of 6?? He might have been a prodigy but u need a three man team for it? Does it mean that other two kids were also genius??
2) How can they say in kakashi gaiden(manga) that ten years ago the battle of kannabi bridge took place?? While at that time naruto is 12 years old and they are taking him as reference?? Does this mean that naruto was born during 3rd ninja war??? And yondaime came back to life to fight in the war??LOL
3) And during kakashi's and itachi's first fight, kakashi said that itachi was made the chief of ANBU black ops at the age of 13?? While during the massacre of the uchiha clan, he looks a lot older than 13 and he takes orders from another anbu, and is shown bowing him, like the other is superior???
there are many other time & age blunders... Sigh! Just learn to live with it...
