Do the flames of Amaterasu spread to everything they touch or do they just burn what they user themself lit?

It burns what it touches but it doesn't spread unlike a natural fire.

If you had it burning a tree for instance it would keep burning even in rain until the tree burnt to ashes, but it wouldn't burn the ground or the landscape around the tree unless something moved it there like a squirrel who got caught on fire.

Actually, if you watched the anime, Amaterasu spread everywhere around the area Sasuke and Itachi were fighting. :flaw:

If it spreads then who stopped itachis ameteretsu in the sasuke itachi fight? it doesn't spread it just burns whatever was the users target then it dies out like it did with raikages arm, he kept on fighting when his arm was lit but it never spread through out his body.

i believe it spreads over the body very slowly

Amaterasu and the relationship with water... What happens when water touches the flame?

Does is evaporate? does it slide off the flames? Does it get absorbed?

Or can can Amaterasu still work underwater?

Anime? Really? Anime is not canon, only manga is. And Amaterasu does not spread like a normal fire. Go back and read any chapter where Amaterasu is used, it only spreads through physical touch like if a burning person were to touch you with it.

So please don't put this :flaw: up when you so clearly did not do your homework or know about Naruto at all.
