Amaterasu: Underrated, Underused, and Horribly Nerfed by Kishi

By all means, Amaterasu is the most powerful technique in the entire manga, by far.

By definition, it is a never-ending black flame that consumes everything it touches until it has been completely eradicated, and spawns instantly on its target.

However, this brings up issues with plot. If Amaterasu actually worked as its definition says, it would kill everyone with no difficulty. Instead, we get bullsh*t helpings of plot where people seem to find loopholes around it (that shouldn't have worked at all).

It's almost maddening seeing this OP technique be slapped in the face by plot over and over again.

Kishi has nerfed a lot of things.. it was a mistake for him to introduce "one shot techs" like amatersu into the manga.. so he has to nerf it in order to have things more interesting

1. Obito's kamui (which makes sense in a way)
2. Izanagi (which also makes sense)
3. Juubi Skin shed (BS you're not orochimaru)

Also lets give a round of applause to Kotoamatsukami for being the most unspellable jutsu EVER

Amaterasu got all its hype in the early and middle stage of the series. Let us remember that as the manga continues, kishi is creating more powerful characters. Lets just say that amaterasu is getting all the hype before because it is being used to characters who are not strong enough to counter it. Since we are seeing powerful characters now, the once so powerful justu is now just a simple technique that can be overcome

I agree. That Bijuu shedding its skin was such a joke. I would have accepted it had it done anything else, like cut its own part off and healed. That would have made a lot of sense. But skin shedding? It's obvious that Amaterasu has been brought down exponentially.

But let's be realistic, how many people can get away with it? It still spawns on whatever is in the line of Sight, spreads at an alarming rate once the eye is focused, chases the line of sight indefinitely, eats up all forms of Chakra even Natural Energy, in fact, it utterly destroys the latter, cannot be put out, and keeps burning for 7 days and nights.

Still pretty frightening, if you ask me ... There isn't a technique that matches it.

It's not nerfed it's just that it doesn't really work on anyone good. At least that's how i see it.

Kamui was used on humans once while baby stage, but in general i agree.
