He did it to show the whole 'child of the prophecy' concept of Jiraiya's students. He brought up the idea again when Nagato was Edo tensei'd, as Jiraiya was the masterpiece, Nagato was a failure, and Naruto is the redemption.

But when everyone is counting on the main characters and lives are at stake, or the fight naruto has to win (if he doesn't the the world will end people will die blah blah blah) then naruto will win .....

It's pretty much like that in many manga .....main character no jutsu

Some characters kishi killed where important for narutos progression....

Some of the talk no jutsu moments in naruto are laughable, if u know what I mean ..

That's my problem and tnj just seems far from real human psychology.
