Well the panels talk for themselves and I think I gave you some arguments. Isn't development and chemistry enough for you? Like you know, a picture talks more than 1000 words.
Sorry to be honest, I am quite lazy at the moment, to do it, as in, elaborate why, that's why I left you the panels. I though it's self explanatory when I'd show those panels, why. But that's just me, I guess.
And this is how you drag me to the debate, lol. Seems I can't help it.
Well, first of all, yes, up to this point it looks really shallow, however, with time, it gets more and more in depth, if I may say like this. At the beginning, yes, it seems that's quite similar to the reason Sakura likes Sasuke and once again it shows how similar they are.
One of the things I liked is the fact that, when it comes to the promise of a lifetime, like you said, indeed, Naruto smiled forcedly. But why? This isn't the case of forcing it. Whether it looks forced, another details stands behind it. The unrequited love motive and the selfless love in contrast to Sakura's love over Sasuke - as described by the author himself.
Unfortunately, the build-up is done only up to these points [still working on it] but if you'd see the upcoming panels from a new perspective, I am sure that you'd understand why these are meant to be together even to the contrary belief that they're dead.
Naruto's love for Sakura is part of his character, is that part that keeps the romantic subplot going and it's all about his love for Sakura because if it wouldn't be, we wouldn't have these shipping wars. However, we have Sakura too. And they both grew on each other.
From just liking her, Naruto got to love her, as confirmed throughout the manga and by Sai and Sakura from hating him to loving him.
Yes, loving him. The author said it himself, folks, no offence but you'll have to deal with it. There's no way you could change the fact that he wanted to, quote "portray an honest girl with a surprisingly stubborn impression". Now the ways of doing it are different and I'll give you that, however, people have to deal with this. Of course he's going to make Sakura still think about Sasuke because she needs a resolution with Sasuke, of course he's going to make Hinata hold hands with Naruto because she needed a resolution as well, of course he'll use moments like these as a red-herring for NaruSaku because this relationship has much depth and layer than people give it credit for.
And as well, a little drama makes his manga go running and keep a big part of the fandom going.
And about that bothering part of yours, well, I used to be like that until I learned that people are full of double standards.
And if it benefits? Well, love doesn't work that way... it's like that argument with "deserving"... Love it's love, simple.
And if he's the hero and we are his fans, why shouldn't we support him to get the girl he always wanted? Doesn't he has the right to be a bit happy after all that he's been through? Haven't people seen how happy he is around Sakura? Why do you think he's calling her to dates or smiling with that big grin when she heals him?
Anyway, yes, I do believe NaruSaku is the end game.
This is Obito being Obito or Madara, no. 2.
When it became too obvious, Kishi switched focus and gave focus on other stuff and made people forget about the Tobi = Obito and made them believe that's actually Madara himself.
Same with NaruSaku, when it became too obvious, he switched attention over NaruHina and, I'll tell you he's going to do the same with SasuSaku and in the end he'll leave it for NaruSaku resolution.
