I see that after a certain period of time passes, you can no longer edit your post. I don't know if this bothers anyone else, but I find it a bit inconvenient. It prevents me from establishing a permanent thread where I can update the main post with new information as it comes along.

That is a perk reserved for the Premium guys, so normal members don't get it. So if you want that ability buy a premium subscription.
Personally I am not bothered.

10 days for normal members.

20 days for premium members.

Was the limit.

Some sections have unlimited post editing like the Custom Jutsu and Fanclubs section.

I can do that!!!??
Wow.
I think you mean VMs
It's not a perk of Premium. The only editing you can do is VM editing
What the guy quoted below this said,

Also it would be a nice addition of a perk for the premiums if they get unlimited edits bar some sections, though I personally don't recommend it. Since we get a date stamp after every edit I think it should be fine.

Oops you're right, I see it near the bottom of the page.

Guess it's probably not gonna happen, but oh well :(
What you can do is make a thread in a particular section, then put a link in that post which leads to a thread in the Fanclub section which you can update regularly. I think FC Section has unlimited post editing.

haha, I thought of another workaround as well. Since signatures update in all of your posts regardless of time, and I can bypass the "4 lines of text" limit (which I'm actually doing right now for instance).

Then I could just check disable signature whenever I need to post somewhere else.

You should make a new thread in such a case adding the new information. Older outdated threads need closing and bumping them up is not even allowed if they are older than a month. The rule against bumping old threads stands because we get new info in this time making the older info and deductions outdated, among other considerations.

If it's a sticky thread about schedule please send a PM to a section mod with new info and they will edit and add it for you. You can also contact me for it.

A few years back, Lawliet/Zise/Nexus actually applied the option for perma editing in the FF section for us writers, and it worked perfect for the year or two it was in function, but I think they eventually removed it when we went bulletin 4 and because it takes up too much bandwidth or something. If it can't be applied to one section like the FF section again like in the past, I doubt there's a chance the entire forum will get it to be honest...

Why not make a new thread, link the old thread and then you add new information?
What if the thread's a sticked one?

There are some threads like Guides and stuff that sort of work around this, like the stickied FF guide thread in the FF section (although Escorpiius no longer keeps it updated, and even though he could edit it whenever he liked to before when he was still a mod). It's suppose to be a complete guide to all the FFs on the Base and people did update it for a long time before it went silent. Escorp had to go to Lawliet for a while before he became a mod to have her edit his post constantly. You could always make a V2 thread though I suppose like they do with some Contest Winners threads... For me personally though it's not a bother. I rarely feel the need to edit something after a week anyways...

There will never be a function like this since it's already been abused in the past. Back then what people did was to write mean things, or porn or other rulebreaking content, and then they would edit it and act like nothing had happened, only problem for them was that we could still see it, but other members couldn't so it still became a problem for members since this things wouldn't get reported.
