No one would... Hard to care about something which doesn't exist.

It does exist, just because this is a ''a bunch of virtually animated drawings'' doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Beside talking to bunch of dbz fanboys who with ship akira like a god

I want proof about kishi loving akira so much

Superman comics >≥>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>dbz

And for bleach nothing in bleach resembles dbz nothing all on super or DC comics
Azien himself is superman and the sunstone is hogyoku?

Superman created all things thread done

I never said that Akira inspired bleach , only Naruto and OP. I said Akira was the one who helped Tite after he had he's manga rejected. And bleach and DBZ wasn't inspired by DC comic books.. Bleach was inspired by Saint Seiya and Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro.

Did you even read my post properly?

If I didn't I never would've replied.

But now, reading it again I guess that I understood what you really meant.
So this would be my reply then.

I meant that I wouldn't care right now.
As in even if it suddenly stopped existing and I had known about it it wouldn't matter to me.

I'll just repost

Yes but DB has very little to no plot and way to often makes very little sense, is inconsistent and only has about 3 to 4 relevant characters

What it has is the nostalgia factor, Goku and Vegeta and the fights

Re: Truth be told!

No my friend you can never go bored watching dbz
Yes you can, 15 minutes of talking 5 minutes for opening + ending, leaving only 3-4 minutes for some action. When I was a child it was awesome, however right now I can't even watch one saga. I mean even with so much dialogue it had a crappy story. I enjoy DB much more than DBZ.

Next time on Dragon Ball Z... no thank you there wont be a next time ^^

Also Dragon Ball isn't even remotely close to being the grandfather of all mangas, only the shounens, however considering how much you like DBZ I could have guessed that you only follow Shounens...

Not really, all credit goes to the respective author, its got nothing to do with Toriyama.

Akira Toriyama > Masasshi Kishimoto nuff said U_U

He is the base of all these mangas they exist because they sucked juice story from him!
If you look at all these stories protagonist they resemble Goku!

Nope, have you ever heard the name of Ozamu Tezuka ? he's the guy who start everything and his Co worker Tomino Yoshiyuki shows the manga world that manga/anime is not all about mindless fighting.

Yes but DB has very little to no plot and way to often makes very little sense, is inconsistent and only has about 3 to 4 relevant characters

What it has is the nostalgia factor, Goku and Vegeta and the fights

Dragon Ball is 30 years old and yet it still attracts new fans, still has a rabid fan base, still has calls to return, still sells well, is still SJ's most acclaimed series and despite ending in 1997, still has new movies and new games. There are very few Manga's that can boast that.

I doubt that Naruto will still have movies and games in 20 years, though I hope so

I understand that not everyone gets Dragon Ball but if all it had was nostalgia and a few fights then it would only have endured with its original fan base.

Dragon Ball is simple, he never over thought it, never filled it with blood, guts, death and unhappiness and I think that is the key. Manga's like Naruto, for all its glory and it is wonderful and Bleach and most other modern Manga are depressing. Dragon Ball is like the summer time when you are a kid, all it has to offer is excitement, enjoyment and fun. It doesn't make you feel sad, doesn't break your heart and doesn't make you dread the next attack in case your favorite character got bumped off.

All the arguing that goes on now over Naruto and Bleach and co, all the disappointments, all the dropping the story because the artist made a horrible mistake, none of that applies to Dragon ball because it is what is it. Dragon Ball took us on a journey and an adventure and it never made us feel more depressed in our already unhappy lives, it did what it was supposed to do, it took us away to a world that was not our own, one filled with humor and excitement and big characters and not to a world that was just as or more unhappy than the place we came from.

I understand that some people like stories that are filled with death and angst and drama, well maybe they have really happy lives or maybe they are just depressed and want to stay that way XD but I for one like a story that takes me away from the pain of my life and I think Dragon Ball appeals to people like that and is one of the many reasons it is appreciated by its fans.

Okeeeey ... But none of what you wrote disproves what I wrote so once again:

DB has very little to no plot and way to often makes very little sense, is inconsistent and only has about 3 to 4 relevant characters

What it has is the nostalgia factor, Goku and Vegeta and the fights

Most of it's praise comes from old fans that loved the series as kids so nothing will ever be as "good" as DB (though they usually forger DB existed and just say DBZ)

I never mentioned Naruto and I don't even read Bleach so I have no idea why you are mentioning them, DBZ had the fortune of exploding into the west in the golden age of Tv anime for the US and EU

Sorry, after original fan base, the rest of my post was not pertaining to your post, should have made that clear ^^

You are right, DB does not have a lot of plot and I suppose there really are only a few relevant characters if it is not looked at from a fans point of view. But it works.

I don't agree with the nostalgia, Dragon ball attracts a lot of new fans, it is shown on the TV here and little kids still love it. What I was trying to say is that if all dragon ball has was its nostalgia it would not have new fans or new films or new games. That's would I was trying to say. The rest was just me on a tangent XD

Yes, Dragon Ball was lucky to break the west in the early days but so did Tenchi, Outlaw Star Cowboy Bebop and none have the popularity of DB, also its popularity can be measured in Japan. But it is all personal preference, not everyone is going to like it and for those who do, nothing will compare, I suppose its like Marmite.

don't misunderstand me, I'm a big fan of the series, definitely one of my fav but it is not the only manga I have known for over a decade so it's not no.1 for me and some of the newer ones got it beat in my book

but nostalgia is it's biggest attraction, the amount of new fans is negligible compared to the number of fans of newer series (or at least ongoing series)

Agreed. Nostalgia is a big attraction and yes its new fans do not come close to the new fans of recent manga. It is No.1 to me ^^ but there are manga, like Naruto, which come very close. As I said in my tangent, I think for me, one of the things I like the most is it is not depressing, I hate sad stories :noes:

Also, when re reading by essay up there I can see that even I feel nostalgia over it. ^__^ but I still feel that it is relevant.

Though I wrote it in a sappy speech, what I wanted to say is that Dragon Ball, unlike a lot of modern manga, cheers me up ^__^

"Akira was like a god to me" - Masashi Kishimoto

Toriyama destroys all Mangaka's.
