Yep, Hiashi mentioned how the Hyuga had Celestial blood/lineage during the Naruto VS Neji fight. The third databook also refers to the Byakugan as "a gift from the heavens w/ limitless potential".

The lineage of Kaguya Ootsutsuki, who ate the Fruit of Shinju-, is dispersed in the current ninja world. Her representative, Kaguya, was born with Byakugan. By this Doujutsu, the Hyuuga Clan can see Tenketsu and practice Juuken. You can still find fragments of this lineage, even in the Shinobi clans which have been destroyed.

Yea , Kishi is really a sloppy writer, he completely rushed it with the Kaguya fights that could've been expanded upon the Ootsutski clan, stuff we should've learn more but in the end there're so much loose ending and instead, Kishi had to resort to a romance movie and yet still nothing much we've learned -_-

Screwattack totally screwed gaara in the vs match, they spew more BS of their fallacious reasoning as to why Toph wins. Oh well what do you expect coming from their hate for anime so the outcome did not surprise me. I know it won't matter to any of you in this FC, but the reason why I brought this up cause if they ever going to bring my boy Neji into this mess, I'll be pissed.

Though Toph did deserve the win, I mean what can Garaa even do that Toph can't reverse?
Garaa's entire arsenal is sand, and obviously Toph can redirect and sense that, whilst Toph has rocks, & sand that Garaa cannot redirect.
