Could you explain to me, in your own words, what genjutsu is? Then tell me some notable users of Genjutsu and a common trait that each of them share.

Follow this up with why you want to learn Genjutsu and how you'd use it in battle?

1) Genjutsu is that of you using chakra to disturb the chakra flow of the opponent, specially in the brain, altering his senses. By doing this you can make him perceive any thing his senses are capable of pain, heat, cold, tickles, iching, visions, sounds, etc. A ninja can make the opponent taste, smell, feel, see or hear anything he wants. However, because this is done by using your chakra to manipulate his chakra flow, the ninja needs to be close or, many times, have a direct link towards the opponent such as eye contact or whatnot.

2) Some Genjutsu users would be Yakumo Kurama, Tayuya, and Kurenai Yuhi. Their common trait would be that all three of them excel at Genjutsu and is mainly their primary ability that they use in battles.

3) Well Genjutsu alters your opponents 5 senses so it would be a good way to make your opponent do certain things or help you avoid certain actions made by your opponent. That is pretty much the reason why I want to learn Genjutsu and pretty much how I would use it in battle.

Genjutsu generally falls into one of a few categories, based on what the effects of the genjutsu are. For example, genjutsu that effects what the opponent sees are called Visual Genjutsu. What are some other categories of Genjutsu and how do these differ from Sharingan Genjutsu?

Well if ones that effect the sight are called visual genjutsu then ones that effect hearing would be called sound genjutsus, and same goes for ones that effect the other senses like smell, touch, and taste. As for how these different from sharingan genjutsus well...they only effect one sense at a time and only effect the senses of a person, where are sharingan genjutsu can effect all the senses at once and there are even some that can effect the opponents physical body, not just their senses.

Pretty much all I can give you on that. My knowledge is kind of low in the Gen category. ._.

That'll do. ^^

( Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu ) - Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.

A basic illusionary jutsu that effects what your opponent sees on the battlefield, specifically the terrain. You can make the terrain look like it is covered in snow, sand, water or anything else along those lines.

( Genjutsu: Kahen Tonsou ) - Illusion Technique: Flower Petal Escape
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively

Using five hand seals, you make your opponent believe that they see you dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom tha then swirl around to block he targets vision.

Pretty straight forward... umm... and I told you they effect the vision which is all they do... How would you counter these jutsu? Remember that you first have to identify that you are in a genjutsu first.

1) Well first lets say my opponent decides to change the terrain to that where it begins to snow. The way I would go about deducing that I was placed in a genjutsu would be so: Can I feel the coldness of snow as it falls from the sky, can I actually feel the snow it self, does the snow make its usual crunching sound when you step on it, can I see my own breath from the dropping of the temperature from the falling snow? If none of these are possible then I could easily tell that I was placed in a genjutsu as all the things above come with the actual falling of real snow. Now how I would go about breaking the gen I guess I could either cause a spike in my chakra, cause my self a some bit of pain, have foreign chakra inserted into me, or simply move out of range from where my opponent is to break free from his illusion.

2) Well people just don't up and start turning themselves into flower pedals so that right there is something I would call a . Also, when the pedals begin to surround me would I be able to feel them or smell them? If not them I can tell this is a genjutsu. Lets say I try to use a wind jutsu to blow them away and they fail to be blown back, that would be another indication that this is a genjutsu. Now as how I would go about breaking free I would just use one of the same methods I stated above in the previous.

Hope this is to your liking. o-o

With the second jutsu; No, you wouldn't feel or smell them as this is purely a visual illusion. That being said, you could use an ally to toss some leaves around if you wanted xD

So when answering, I'd like you to give me your thoughts on the jutsu, including a strategy for how you could successfully pull off the jutsu and how you'd counter them.

( Genjutsu: Kasumi ) - Illusion Technique: Servant
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone of the user advancing upon him. As the paper bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes.

After you perform the Ram seal (Haven't actually checked what seal... you can research that for me ;P), you throw a paper bomb-tagged kunai towards your target. Already being in the illusion, your opponent would perceive the kunai as a clone of you running towards him... the bomb explodes when it is in range.

( Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu ) - Mist Servant Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.

Find a picture of this jutsu if you can, and find pictures for any genjutusu that you feel would help you visualise them.

The Hidden Rain Shinobi used this jutsu during a filler arc against Team 7 back in the original series. These clones would appear to emerge from the surrounding terrain and have no physical substance and when attacked either reform as if nothing happened, or multiply. The rain shinobi tossed kunai from their hiding spots, making it look like these clones were real being attacking Team 7.

( Magen: Narakumi ) - Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.

Two hand seals (Snake → Rat) will allow you to cast this illusion upon your target. Pretty self explanatory but tough to decribe exactly what your target my experience. You can either leave it open or delve into your opponent's bio history to describe an exact scenario from the bio's past. xD

How I would tell this is a genjutsu is either by attacking the clone and seeing my attack go through him telling me it is an illusion, or seeing that it just appears out of nowhere and no smoke forms like it does with real clones, giving me an indication that it is a gen, or by listening to see if the clone is making noise as its feet rub across the ground as it runs towards me, which of course it wont make any since it isn't real and would tell me it is a gen. I would break free by using one of the release methods. Strategy....guess I would combine this with the shadow clone jutsu to create a real clone before using this genjutsu to make it a little harder for my opponent to guess he is in a genjutsu. To me this seems like a useless genjutsu. I really don't see my self ever using it. >.>

To tell that this is a genjutsu is to pay close attention to how the clones appear like the last jutsu. When these clones form like lets say from a pool of water, the water it self wouldn't have and movement in it allowing me to know that the clone isn't real. For a strategy I would use this to confuse my opponent while I hide somewhere and attack from that location or simply use this genjutsu to allow me to move away and recoup my self in-case I am being overwhelmed by my opponent and need to have some time to think of a new plan of action. I would say this is a useful genjutsu if used right.

This one is really easy to tell that it is a genjutsu as things you fear the most don't just appear out of thin air like that in front of you. Especially if you are say fighting in a desert and the thing you are most afraid of is a whale and it just happens to appear in front of you and there is no ocean around at all. Pretty simple. For a strategy, well...kind of lost on this one. xD This just kind of seems like a really useless genjutsu to me, lol.

Superb... and sorry for the delay .__.

This post will be kinda short as I want you to describe to me all you know of the Kai release method. Go and research if needed as it will help to speed things along xD

Oh wow you did reply. .__. Kind of forgot about this since you didn't reply for a month. xD

Well Kai is one of the release methods of breaking Genjutsu. The user needs to perform a single hand-seal which will then cause a spike in their chakra system to occur which leads to the breaking of the genjutsu that they are under. For one to use this they need to be able to make the hand-seal so one is not able to use this method on genjutsus that cause paralysis to the upper body, and the user still needs to know that they are in a genjutsu to use this method. Also, one is able to break their partners out of genjutsus as well with this. Now I know that Kai can break all ranks of Gen C-S but depending on the users rank is what rank of genjutsu he is able to break free from.

Hope that covers everything about kai. >.>

O__O' and again, sorry :T_T:

( Kori Shinchū no Jutsu ) - Sly Mind Affect Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.

This is a sensory illusion that effects the opponents vision to such a degree that it tricks there sense of balance. Your balance centre will do it's best to believe what the eyes are telling it, so long as you don't change the angle of the terrain... but I'm getting off track here.
For this jutsu, you'll cast an illusion that makes your opponent believe they are continuing their originally planned straight line towards their target, where in fact they are actually walking around in circles, serpentine or any other random path you set them on. You do this by causing their eyes to only see the straight line they started moving on, no matter which way they run they will believe they are heading towards this original destination...

Talk to me about your thoughts on this jutsu.

( Genjutsu: Jinmon ) - Illusion Technique: Interrogation
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.

Not much use outside of the NW, pretty self explanatory and only works under the conditions listed in the description. This works by tricking the opponents mind into speaking about information they were supposed to keep secret by altering their perspective on what is secret and what it not, causing them to blurt out all there secrets with the right suggestions.

No real need to mention anything about this one, just mentioning it for your training.

( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.

So... self explanatory here. What type of genjutsu is this, how would you detect that it is a genjutsu and how could you use this in battle?

( Genjutsu: Kasumi no Jutsu ) - Illusion Technique: Mist Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.

Again self explanatory... answer the same as the above, and add anything else you'd like to add about these jutsu.
