Don't really mean anything by it, but i just noticed that the Akatsuki is incredibly similar to the Templars from assassins creed. for example

Akatsuki: secrete organization that infiltrates the worlds governments (i.e. control mizukage) and makes moves in the shadow
Templars: basically function the same way

Akatsuki: wants to create peace and order by controlling people's minds
Templars: exact same objective

Akatsuki: wants to accomplish their goal by using the power of the sharingan/rinningan and moon (things that were created and passed down by the forerunner of the shinobi, the Sage of the 6 paths.
Templars: want to accomplish their goal by using the pieces of Eden, things that were created by the forerunners of humanity, "those who came before"

Templars: their main enemy is the assassins
Akasuki: their main enemy is the other ninja they must fight, ninja's being basically a specific type of assassin.
