And yet the girl who was suing the car company because there father died in a car accident was being called worse names.... it may work but the problem is that in this case the kid and family comes of as an opportunist. It all comes down how good you are at creating dramaWhile there are countless such cases where people who suffered due to such prejudices -this case won't help them. Rather it would somewhat works against them.

If he truly was a victim, fair enough. The problem comes when you read further into the events, as it sounds increasingly like this is fraudulent. Construct something which would certainly arouse suspicions, bring it into a school for some pretty weak reasons, be disruptive and uncooperative, blame any backlash on discrimination and go to the media.

While there were mistakes made in how this was handled, the jealously you speak of is more along the lines of anger that the system is getting played.

I actually expected this much sooner. People sue for anything and everything , and his case seemed to me to meet the prerequisites for a lot of standard cases. Emotional trauma, discrimination, improper police procedure/rights violation (I read somewhere that they denied the minor from speaking to his parents), etc. I'm sure these are some of the allegations.

Even if the parents didn't think of filing a lawsuit (don't know how much of this lawsuit is the boy's own idea), I wouldn't have found it farfetched for a lawyer spotting the opportunity, contacting the family (even if for his own benefit/to further his career), and convincing them they have a case.

There does seem to be mistakes and possible violations within this case though, and the lawyer may just be asking for a very high amount knowing the family may get something way below that.
