*Agnes sees a figure approaching her, at the specified spot. She stands up and pats her knees before going into an explanation of genjutsu, as the letter specified.*
"Hello sensei, my name's Agnes Oblige and it's a pleasure to be trained by you. First, I will explain what genjutsu is and all the knowledge I currently have of it. Genjutsu are the set jutsus utilized in order to disrupt an opponent's mental comprehension of the environment and thus confused the opponent, and cause them to misinterpret the conditions of the fight. This is done by disrupting the opponent's chakra flow within their brain with your own chakra. There are the usual methods of doing so, i.e., changing what they see, hear, touch, smell, or even taste, although the latter three tend to be more difficult to quickly perform and harder to create the proper conditions to properly perform them and actually make them effective when the opponent is firing off three A-Rank jutsus without a care in the world, so yeah, the prior two are definitively more effective in most cases. However, there are many other senses that the human body can comprehend than just the basic five, and understanding at least some of these sense can give a genjutsu user a far greater advantage in creating creative combos in which genjutsu can be better used. To give three examples of these senses that currently come to mind, balance is a sense that most people tend to not know is one or forget about, but by utilizing it, one can create conditions, such as making one think that they're in an earthquake or nauseous, that would make them fall or lose balance, thus making them unfocused from taijutsu stances or lose jutsu preparations. Another sense is the ability to interpret temperature changes within the environment, but this one is harder to use properly alone, and is nonsensical to use in many cases. A third sense is the ability to be aware in one's position, and the location of their extremities and general body position. In other words, one uses this sense to know that their right hand is next to the right side of their pelvis and not up one's nose. A clever genjutsu user may be capable to developing method to confuse this sense, but this is another sense that isn't that pertinent to a newcomer to the genjutsu arts.
Genjutsu has some avenues towards usage: Eyesight between two shinobi, sound, and usage of handseals. Eyesight usage of genjutsu is most often utilized with dojutsu, i.e., the sharingan, byakugan, and rinnegan (probably spelled some of those wrong but I am awful with these technical names), although I imagine that certain jutsus also require handseals alongside eyesight for proper usage. Sound is more technical, and I don't have the ability to use it anyways, so I can't say I know a lot about sound genjutsu, or sound in general as of yet. The final one is handseals, which are used as the catalyst to create a disruption within the opponent's mind or the environment.
Genjutsu can also be layered, thus creating a multi-genjutsu trap for the opponent. The trick is that a stronger genjutsu must be used first, and then a weaker genjutsu, as a stronger genjutsu would overwhelm a weaker genjutsu. For example, say I would first use a B-Rank genjutsu to create a illusionary shake on the ground, which would cause the opponent to tumble around on the ground, then I can add to it by casting a C-Rank genjutsu to cause the opponent to suffer from the headache, thus compounding the fact that they are, in fact, suffering from an earthquake. Yet, if I would reverse this order, then only the earthquake would occur, as the B-Rank genjutsu would overwhelm, and thus neutralize, the C-Rank genjutsu.
The final category of the basic genjutsu arts, at least from my understanding, is how to break one's self from genjutsu. There are four methods I know of, although I think there are more than these: Pain, Kai, Chakra surge, and Absorption jutsus. Pain is just that, causing pain to one's self to remove a genjutsu from their being; these are effective in correlation by both the rank of genjutsu used, as well as the type of pain caused to one's being. These vary from chipping one's finger to remove a D-Rank, to cutting one's finger off to remove a A-Rank or S-rank. Kai is a jutsu that can only be used once per turn to remove one genjutsu effect from one's being; this jutsu's effectiveness correlates with one's rank, meaning at my rank, S-Class, I believe that I can remove up I believe B-Rank jutsus, correct me if I'm wrong though. Chakra surges are essentially using up so much of your own chakra in an instant to immediately repel all genjutsus off one's being, for example, opening up a gate of the Eight Internal Gates would suffice for this effect. Finally, absorption jutsus uses outside chakra to repel and counter invading jutsus, hence creating a fresh pool of untainted chakra; activating a cursed mark or sage mode for suffice for this. I believe I'm missing at least one of these though..."
*She sighs and places her hands to her sides, awaiting her sensei's response.*
1.) Can you explain fully how utilizing handseals would be able to activate a genjutsu? I know from Scorp's illusionary arts thread that no chakra physically leaves from the user towards the afflicted, as no dojutsu user would be able to notice a chakra string approaching them before a genjutsu is casted. Can I ask if there are any details that would illuminate this for me?
2.) What are some effective methods to eliminate a S or F Ranked genjutsu, if I were to ever encounter one?
I'll choose Ayane for Rping.
