About two weeks ago my girl friends and I were driving away from school, I saw a boy I like and commented he was cute. My friend then gave me a look and told me I was weird because I liked a younger guy. Her sister is dating a 9th grader she Graduated from high school four years ago, she is around 7-8 years older than him. they guy I like is 15-16 and I am 17 and it made me think about couples. how when a girl is older than a guy it is seen as not okay but if the guy is older than the girl is okay. what do you guys think, what in your eyes is an okay age difference between couples? and does it matter if the girl or guy is older?

2 years apart, in your case, isn't really a big deal, at all, go for it if you want.

The age of 18, by no means, makes you instantly an adult, aside from legal issues.

I just turned 18, and I still feel and think exactly the same.

There are 17 year olds more developed than 18 year olds (a lot, in my case).

To answer the original question, the simple reason is because girls mature faster than boys. Its not uncommon in the slightest for a relationship along the lines of a female sophomore and male senior. Of course attraction will vary by person, but surely if a girl feels boys her age are too immature for her then she'll find an older boy. Your friend is likely into guys older than her, but of course that will vary by person.

Personally, it sounds like your friend is in complete denial. If she finds her sister's illegal relationship to be fine and your attraction not, than she's obviously either blocking the idea of her sister's relationship or is in complete denial about it. If I recall the law correctly, an adult can have a relationship with a minor if the age gap is less than two years. This means an 18 year old can date a 16 year old, a 19 year old can date a 17 year old, or son on. It might be more along the lines of 18 months or something, but 2 years is pretty safe I'd say.
