After Hagoromo died, why didn't Hamura become the jinchuuriki? or did he know the Juubi was his mother unlike Hagoromo

Hagoromo wanted to make the bijuus to protect humanity, while Hamura went to the moon to look after the Gedo Mazou until he too passed away.
