What the Manga blatantly portrays is more valid than your opinion and it portrays that Katsuyu can't do a damn thing to Manda in a fight.

If he eats her, he gets melted from the inside. He cannot crush her because physical attacks are ineffective against her. There is absolutely nothing Manda can do to Katsuyu.

Katsuyu cannot put Manda down.He in canon dodged it's acid and once katsuyu split it won't be helping sakura against a large summon
