"Gutsy Naruto" was about as vanilla as you could get.
Wasn't this Naruto born in a war-torn era? If so, how is he vanilla as you allege?

Boruto is already more interesting than him and well-developed/better designed as a kid, his older self from the Kawaki scene goes even further.
Disagree. Current Boruto hasn't experienced anything life-changing.

As thus far seen, his only problem is his father who's not always around as he'd like, who makes an effort to be there for him anyways. He's still far from being ''well-developed.''

The "future Boruto" looks like he bears grievances and shoulders a great weight, in stark contrast to the flat hero cliche of the Naruto in Jiraiya's first novel.

I haven't compared them that way. You're looking too far deep into it.

I agree. This Boruto is an excellent concoction of two of our best heroes. He has Naruto's determination and drive, and combines it delicately with Sasuke's daunting and demeaning attitude.
