Defender of his own idea of justice; which is kinda tyranny (seeing as he finished of two fodder Marines who tried running away, when he shouldn't even be there [probably anime only]) and how he almost killed Coby, I'd say Oda wants to make him bad rather "desperately"

I agree with the "defender of his own idea of justice" part 100%. That's exactly how I see it.

But I can't understand how you think it's "desperate" in any way, that Oda makes him like that. It's Oda's story, so if he wants a character to be a certain way, he's not doing anything "desperately".. he's just telling his story and showing how certain characters act/behave.

Well, don't you think just walking past Coby would have been more effective, saving time and if he took out Coby after that speech it would most likely dampen the morale of the Marines, and with the little we knew about his character at that point he was shown to be quite smart.

Oh yeah.. Definitely! I agree with you on what should've been done in that situation.. but I'm just saying that it doesn't make Oda "desperate" because however he displays a character, is how he wants.. since it's his story..

Idk if you understand what I mean, but I do agree with you on what Akainu SHOULD'VE done if it was real life/real people.. but because Oda made Akainu do what he did instead, I don't think it was done "desperately", I think it was done intentionally to show us exactly how Akainu is as a character.

Bro Akainu destroyed a ship full of Civilians because he don't want any Ohara scholar/archeologist escape from buster call.
He would have killed Coby if Shanks didnot intervene.

I guess the word desperate was rather inappropriate, but my point his Oda has a way of making villains look bad my making them disregard their comrades rather unnecessarily, that's why I kinda like DD, he was the first villain that was kinda mature.

Yeah sure he would have killed Coby, which would have been pointless, in the case of the Oharan scholars, if one of them snuck on board the whole buster call would have been a waste.

Yeah that's true about Doffy.. he was one of the few bad guys that actually truly cared about his crew/comrades.

But yeah bro, I see what you're saying, I just think that Oda does it intentionally though. Personally, I do agree with you that sometimes it's completely unnecessary for a villain to just treat their comrades like shit.. if it was a real person, I'd be really upset about it.. but since it's just Oda's story, I know he chooses to portray certain characters like that on purpose, so we as readers can really see how they are.. and the difference between them and the characters that DO treat their nakama great! Ya know?

:lmao:
But Seriously lots of guys could have escaped Buster call like Nico Olivia.
I never understand why she went back to that tree library thing?
Basically to make Robin the last Oharan, though seriously she went to warn the scholars of the impending buster call or something, though we all know how that turned out.
