I think you are right. When people think "ninja" they mostly think kunai, swords, ninja wire, hiding in shadows, smoke bombs, etc. Not Giant fireballs, instantly prouting poisonous flower forests, meteors from the sky, etc. Albiet these are cool and considered Ninpo, I think the main issue is they are far too destructive and leave very little to strategy. Mainly the stradegy for these jutsu are:
Don't get hit by them/Throw another large scale justsu at it. Rinse and repeat.
In all honesty it isn't about the justu for me. It's the redunandcy and the sudden burst of mega powers that sprouted up in this war. How many rikudo rehashes have been on the field now? 4. that's how many. Obito, Madara, Sasuke, and Naruto.
It's pretty much lost it's charm. Is there still stratedgy? Yup sure. Is it great and epic and perfect at many of you say it is. Not in my opinion. But it helps move a very slow moving arc along.
The bold parts said it for me. The large scale of the jutsus made it stand out too much and somewhat overshadowed the little things. If the scale and power level was tone down a bit, then the strategies implemented would be more visual that the destructive scales themselves. NxM is right in a way that Part 2 still uses tricks and plans; it's just the overwhelming power levels that gets in the way.
Not trying to pick a fight, but just so you know, it's been going away from that direction ever since we've been introduced to the juubi jins.
