A bit of fighting went on before he was capable of summoning them. The length of time isn't ungodly, but it would leave him open.

The only issue A would have against Jman would be his toads. Jman's SM, genjutsu, and especially would stand no chance.

There's nothing that really implies that. He said it threw a wrench in to things, but he was still focusing on summoning them, and activated his barrier with his feet, as to not interrupt his summoning. He kept his hands clasped together the entire time, not once breaking his "summoning".

He said as much that he needed Gamaken to buy him some time.

Jiraya is a level above A. Speed blitz wont work on Jiraya he could just spit oil on the ground and would slow A's speed greatly but jiraya can still move fine because of his shoes. Jiraya uses Geta sandals and it is very similar to this scene

Also the frogs can walk on oil fine due to their webbed feet and so can Jiraya if he feels the need to go to sage mode.

This is just a few of the counters that J-man has for A

His taijutsu isn't the best, but his ninjutsu and genjutsu can help him in this match. When i mean genjutsu i mean ma and pa. He also has toad summonings. He has Katon and Doton as chakra natures. He had good defense with toads, hair, etc.. Plus, he has Gamabunta with him. Sage Mode. This dude is a powerhouse and can take many people down.

Dude... Honestly... All jokes aside... Do you think any katon or doton jutsu are going to hit him? You think anything is going to be fast enough to hit him and even penetrate his lightning armor? Hair? Chidori couldn't penetrate his lightning armor and you think hair will?

True, I'll digress. Still, it doesn't take as long as others have made it out to take, and Jiraya can use techniques like swamp of the underworld and his various "entering a toads stomach" techniques to buy him plenty of time.
