I agree that kishi is, for some reason, unable to kill his characters. Saving gai after all that was indeed a disrespect to his char. He was ready to die, to sacrifice himself in order to protect his friends and the fresh leaves.
He should die, and his death would be honorable.

Still, I wouldn't say this arc sucks only because it has this problem.

You also have to keep in mind that this manga is a Shounen manga and it targets a family audience, Kishi can only go so far with this manga, he actually wrights adult stories generally so its not him that's afraid to kill off characters its that he has to draw the line to keep it PG.

I think in an interview he said that the reason he never goes into detail of Jiraya's books is because they are not appropriate for the target audience.

No, Naruto claim he will never at first but after one of his comrade dies he witness the outcome of the war and understood the real shinobi way that you would always carry someone inside your heart. This is war and people dies there so Gai sacrificed would able to buy enough time for Naruto to arrive with his power boost.

If I would be writing this manga,I would literally have killed ohnoki by meteor,tsunade by getting ripped in half,shikamaru,kiba,shino by shinju,etc. also would've showed a lot of graphics,you know,of fodders,that adds the feel,killed kakashi,neji,hinata,etc. as well.

OFF-TOPIC-Btw,who among the good people,main characters,died in bleach war and marineford lmao. Only 2 main fodders in bleach,namely head captain and his subordinate and ace and wb in mf died in the entire show.

Yeah I'm dead serious bro, right now in bleach when it comes to war mainly speaking the "FINAL ARC" , there's alot of bloodshed and all these brutal that actually feel like a war, yes only 2 or 3 important characters dies in bleach.

OnePiece in the other hand, the Marineford is only the closure of the first part of OP, it's not the final arc anything nether less it's done way better job than the 4th Great ninja war and 2 major important characters dies in the war which gives enough to make the war epic

As I said before, even with two major death in Op, it still makes the war epic especially it's not the "Final Arc"

I agree with Naruto deaths, but so much times passed by to the extent that these characters holds no longer importance and when it comes to the "War" especially it's the last arc, its supposed to be the LARGEST most epic climatic war by leaps and bound better than all the arc in Naruto.
