I've noticed quite a few people have recently Picked up One Piece to add to their manga/anime read/watch list. With so many wanting to get into it, I figured I would try to convince others to get into it as well. With Golden Week arriving shortly and the manga being on break, I figure this would be a good time to start.
The biggest complaints I see from people not wanting to start One Piece is that it will take too long to get into, and the beginning sucks. Well I wanted to make a guide to help people get passed the boring parts and onto when things get good. I'm also going to cut the watch time down tremendously.
This guide is broken into three different parts.
First part:
I have found 5 videos on Youtube that summarize the first 18 episodes into 34 minutes, 48 seconds. If you figure 20 minutes per episode, I have cut your watch time down by a tenth. We are going to call this part the "None Piece" part.
The links for easy access:

Episode 3
Episode 4
Episode 5
Second part:
This part cannot shorten. It is the Baratie Arc. It is 11 episodes. Just watch it on *insert favorite place to watch anime here*
Third part:
There was a special episode done recently that's called "Episode of Nami: Tears of a Navigator and Bonds of Friends." This is a 1 hour 45 minute special summarizing the Arlong Arc. This is in subbed so you will have to read. Basically it is 14 episodes put into a 2 hour film. That is over 2 and a half times less watching then the original. It is also done with up to date animation so people can get a taste of how good animation becomes later. Considering this was animated in late 1999 early 2000, 13 years in animation is a big difference. Speaking of differences, there are a few anime/manga differences with this special. They had to cut out a bit. If you want to know what, check the wiki here (or just watch the original later).
So with this guide you will only have to watch 5 hours 59 minutes 48 seconds versus 15 hours. That's watching 45 episodes 2.5 times faster than normal. Good deal right?
Continue watching from episode 44-47 with the buggy side story arc and then episodes 48-53 with the Logue Town Arc. After that is the only filler arc I recommend to skip (episodes 54-61). After that, if you are still bored after the next saga, I just say stop watching. Just note One Piece only gets better.
Lastly, Sub is many times better then the dub imo. The Funimation dub isn't bad though. Most of the people who voiced DBZ characters do the voices for the OP cast. To me it seems weird hearing Piccolo being Zoro, or Trunks being Sanji. Others may like it. Do what you are most comfortable with. Eventually you will have to go sub since only half of it is in subs right now. Any questions, just leave a comment or VM me.

For big One Piece fans, do not take this too serious. The Original is always the best. For people who have never watched One Piece, maybe take this seriously.
At best, I will have converted some people to Goda. At worst I will get people with no life commenting saying "Didnt read" or "go somewhere else OP ***" and try to ruin my thread. A middle ground, I will have introduced people to the genius that is known as None Piece.
