A Reflection

[Ryóma]

Mighty waves crashing onto the shore
Churning up with it the soft fine sand
All the while making a great roar
Oh, it really did seem quite grand

The calm sea at the distance
With waves bobbing gently up and down
Yet as these same waves leave this trance
Everything in their path they drown

Sunlight rays reflecting off the surface
Leaving it to sparkle like billions of stars
The ocean continues to shine with gracefulness
Until the night when light becomes scarce

Can the beauty of this huge mass
Ever be comprehended?
