I was watching some of the Confining the Jinchuuriki Arc, precisely, the episode where Naruto is shown collecting the animals, and then afterwards, Tobi shows Kabuto his power and everything he has stored up. Out of these war materials Tobi has, one is a tree with the first hokage growing out of it, pure senju cells. Tobi couldn't have made that over night, so its safe to say he's had it for awhile.
Seeing that made me think, why didn't Tobi get Rinnegan himself by combining his uchiha DNA with the Senju DNA and progressing his sharingan that way? Why did he have to go to the trouble of killing Konan and stealing Nagato's eyes when he had a perfectly feasible solution in his freakin basement? I understand that Tobi would need Sharingan to do eye on the moon, but if he had progressed his sharingan in that way such as Madara, wouldn't he be able to change back and forth between the two doujutsu too? I just swear that would of made things a lot easier on him and his plans of world domination and such. Plus at that point he could have made easy work of the tailed beasts by himself.
Thinking about this also made me think, why couldn't he have done the same thing for Sasuke? Sasuke had a beast sharingan, and had already done the full progression of shar>Ms>EMS, why shouldn't he have been able to unlock Rinnegan at that point? Nagato did when he was like 8 years old so i would think Sasuke could at like 16/17. I just don't understand why Tobi would downplay such an option, i would imagine he wanted his forces to be at full strength so i don't get why this option was not thought through.
If tobi or sasuke had natural rinnegan, many things could have gone down differently, idk it'd be a major plot changer.
BTW im in no way hating on Naruto or Kishi or any of that, its just something i noticed.
What are your thoughts guys?
