A New Rule

okay then how is this...

if a user has a custom made avatar/sig from a gfxer on this site or made their own avatar/sig then they are the only ones entitled to use it.

Then you should create some sort of shop for used avatars/sigs.
If someone doesn't want their avatar/sig anymore but doesn't care if someone else used it they 'give' it to the shop and when someone 'buys' it they will receive the kumi that is given for it.
That would be the idea of a "secondhand avatar/sig shop" in a nutshell.
And I think that would be a better idea.

I am cynical, my friend. Have you read my fanfic? It's the epitome of cynicism. I take that as a compliment because I kind of am one! Do you mean a negative or ositive connotation?

yes actually i was thinking something like that but I figured no one else would like that idea. but my previous rule would still have to be in effect though in order for people to do this.

Hey, now that's not a bad idea. Then liars would be caught, and orderly system would keep records of who owns what! Brilliant! The only thing is, negativity again I know, NB has been around for awhile. How are we going to regulate this with members NOW. You only deal with future members.

no i've thought this idea through before.
anyone who doesn't care about their avatar/sig would post it in that thread and someone who wanted it could buy it from the original owner.

there would be a seperate thread labeled "taken avatars/sigs" and everyone who cared about their avatar/sig would post it there with the info as a sign saying "do not take"

so on top of the great deal of work mods and admins already have to do, you want us patrolling profiles to make sure that someone doesn't have the same Avatar as you? Thats really just a giant waste of time. If you want an original avatar, than create your own and watermark it somehow so that you can have someone remove it if you dont' want them to use it.

Ok honestly... Who gives a flying F? I sure as hell don't. Go ahead and steal my Avatar pic.. It's got my name written in it though, and I'm the one who edited it using Photoshop. Here's a little fact of the internet guys.. If you post a picture, anyone get can get a hold of it, just like anything else. Does it mean as much when they use it? It wouldn't if they took my Avatar. I mean come on, I'm the one who edited it, and the one who's name is in it. Although I used to add this copyright thing in my pics, I stopped when I realized... Nobody cares.

im not asking for mods/admins to patrol and actually the idea of this rule has changed since i started this thread. so now it only applies to custom avatars/sigs that people have worked on and or bought with kumi

As for the cynic who was so easily disuaded, what pray tell would stop the occurance of somebody selling an avatar/signature used on another naruto board to somebody here as "custom" only to have that person come here using the same avatar/signature and being told they aren't allowed to because somebody else already registered it?

Perhaps this is simply out of my depth as I no longer care about even having an avatar or picture, as is evident. However having administered to several boards, it seems to me like this would, to the mods, turn into just more whining and crying and petty bickering to deal with, and likely no way to be 100% sure of who should be the winner.

this rule has changed since this thread has started.
the winner would go to the one who bought the custom avatar/sig or had it made for them.

Avatar Stealing Rule​

you cannot use an avatar that's already in use by another member. However if that member hasn't been active for more than 6 months you may use their avatar.
but if you still want their avatar then ask them if they will sell it to you for kumi

Eh, to be honest, its not really worth it for us mods to actually enact on this rule. We cant stop people from doing it (only Smods and admins can srip avatars/sigs) and you technically speaking dont have a legal copyright on it.

Most of the time youve edited copyrighted works of someone elses characters. Unless you hand draw all of your images, your technically breaking the law :/

So this rule is bogus, I said this to the mods as well.

As stated many times in above posts, there's really no point or use in putting in this rule. It's sort of common sense already... you simply don't steal other people's things.
If you see someone who has stolen your custom made-ava/sig. Just report it to an Smod or Admin as we can actually remove it. We've caught out people stealing before without a rule so there is no need for it.

That's all there is to it.
