i liked and here's why. throughout the manga we have gotten an pretty consistent view of who exactly naruto is. we know the way he speaks, what he does and doesn't understand and so on. what we could gather from what we knew of the sage, he was intelligent, with mystic/sage like qualities. it only make sense that this is how the beginning of an encounter between the two of them would go. naruto being simple for the most part, wouldn't know what the hell he was talking about at first, and the sage would be patient and understanding trying to accommodate. i like it and thought it was done well. could it have been quicker? maybe, but it was still done well and we got good info this chapter.
