Atheists don't say that the matter and or energy that were made up ceases to exist, they say that thought ceases to exist. Assuming this point of view when one dies all consciousness, soul, spirit, or whatever you wish to call human thought does disappear because its a physical function of the brain which has not become nothing but has begone to decompose and degrade itself into different forms of matter or energy which can no longer support said function these transformed energy's/matter go on to support the ecosystem of the earth. None of this breaches the conservation of energy laws.

And that's what I'm saying. There's no way to prove, or disprove it. So we will have to wait and see.
But why should I believe in something that's written in a book where 99% of it has been proved wrong?

Huh what? No we know, because we can observe other peoples deaths.

From what I can see is that you are relating a person's soul to energy. Your argument would hinge on whether or not we have a soul, and whether or not that soul is comprised of energy. Neither of which at this point of time is verifiable.

And even if we have souls comprised of energy, there isn't any proof whether or not it would go anywhere.

You just proved my point. I am agnostic, there is no proof of what happens after we die. Which is why I'm saying, atheists can speak all they want about there being no heaven, but they don't 100% no that. Same way with Christians, there's no way to prove a heaven actually exists

Well actually we are matter and energy is only going through matter , so basically you can say that our conscious is created by a form of energy in our brain . And that form of energy is electricity .
Also that energy can be changed but it doesn't leave a mark of previous forms , so when we die our energy goes somewhere else and it changes so after we die that energy isn't ours at all .
So yeah , we don`t get reincarnated if you mean by that , and i am sorry to say but that is all .... one life .... one chance .... one path . When we die , its the end . Its kinda hard to think like that , it is almost trying to think how much universe is big .

As you seem to take forever I'll extrapolate whatever nonsense you've provided.

"I am agnostic before you ask. There is no way to prove what happens after we die, but our energy has to go somewhere.. The law applies to us, so it doesn't just get destroyed."

Firstly even though you claim to be agnostic, you seem to lean towards wanting there to be a god; understandable since that would provide comfort. Unfortunately it's the same naive thinking that conjured up all the religions we have today.

Secondly the universe is much larger than you or I could ever conceptualise, in fact we can't see beyond the observable universe, in addition it's most likely that the universe is in fact infinite. Regardless of the case this means the energy left behind (mostly heat and sound) can just spread and get lost (it doesn't mean it's destroyed).

However I suppose on the upside, it is theoretically possible to reassemble you from this energy( though this would require technology we won't have for some time, if ever). All in all if you're worried about dying forever, you should spend more time educating yourself on singularity, nanotechnology, robotics and few related areas. As it it's obvious that you're afraid of death.

Religion is a persons way to cope with the fear of death. Notice how all the main religions have a different thing that happens after death.

You act like I'm the only person afraid of death lol.

You believe what you want. I'm just saying there's no way to prove either side.

Exactly; since death is not programmed in living entities, literally we've only been programmed to live, this code is clearly seen, while the former doesn't exit, our lust for reproducing is the blatant sign that death isn't a good thing.
