I for one, really enjoyed this chapter. I don't know why, but a few things really stuck out to me this chapter that just made me love this manga so much more, for whatever reason, so I thought I might share what I thought!

1. Naruto's Rasenshuriken

Not only was this moment a really cool action scene, but count the amount of Rasenshuriken Naruto makes. Six. Perhaps Kishi is foreshadowing a certain 6 armed power-up =D. Maybe, or it might just be coincidence. Either way it's cool!

2. Sasuke's Susano Saves Team 7

A long time ago, Gaara called the Susano "The power of Darkness"

Zetsu literally refers to Sasuke's Susano as "blocking out the light."

For me, I found this really poetic, that Sasuke used his "power of darkness" to shade and save team 7. Usually the "dark" and Sasuke in general represent negativity and selfishness in this manga, but it is quite opposite in this chapter. Naruto's first instinct even is to run out of the shade to help everyone, usually a strength, but in this chapter is a weakness, to which Sasuke stops him. Good uses of symbolism by Kishi expanding the light/darkness theme.

This also leads into it being excellent key character development, in that Sasuke is now officially a team player in team 7 and even he can also use his powers in a positive way for others. For some chapters now, Naruto has filled primary team player keeping everyone alive on the battlefield, but is a role only Sasuke can fulfill in this exact moment, giving them a sort of switch from the usual which expands further on the Naruto/Sasuke teamwork relationship.

Tl;Dr Great uses of symbolism and foreshadowing in 677 made it really poetic for me. Good subtle character development as well, really brought me in as a well written chapter.

Cool story eh? Anyways that's what I thought, I'm curious to what everyone else thought about this chapter. =D

Pretty nice read, to be honest. Was like a breath of fresh air from the usual fapboy threads.

Never thought about it that way. Nice find. And true!

Thank you! I was hoping it wasn't just me posting some unreadable rambling Lol

Didnt think abt it

I'm just glad to see it makes sense at least.

Pretty nice read, to be honest. Was like a breath of fresh air from the usual fapboy threads.

Thank you as well! Also, in my time on this forum, this is possibly the best compliment I've ever seen given to someone =D You are awesome!

Nice way of thinking about it. It seems that Sasuke's power of darkness is what gave the world a second chance now that Sasuke has saved team 7. Another thing I liked about Sasuke this chapter was that he seems to be swaying away from the negatives of being Indra's reincarnation. Indra believed he could do everything on his own, he probably would have only saved himself. While Sasuke saved his team, mainly Naruto.

It seems the talk with the Sage, Hashirama, and Kakashi did not fall on deaf ears. Sasuke has been listening to others and gradually accepting the help of others. Now that Sasuke has finally grown to acknowledge Naruto's strength, he's accepted him as a comrade towards this common goal. It's some great development a lot of people probably missed out on.

Agreed! I think if people take a step back and see it they'll love this chapter. It's some of the best Naruto/Sasuke development and Sasuke development as an individual that we've gotten in quite awhile! Sasuke is becoming much more people friendly =D

Quite. Even the darkness will protect others from overbearing light =D A very Yin-Yang concept by Kishi that is a fresh look at this manga!

One of the best post I've read in awhile this is what the base needs more un fap in a post. Good points on pointing out each characters high points and feats, along with vary oriented scans that directly show why you felt so. Also nice of you to share that the poetic notes in the story are not lost to you thank you for this post.

Really refreshing read. Especially on the last part about Sasuke. He's one of my favorites because of that.

I think you're over thinking some of this

Possibly, but this is how Kishi made me feel this chapter. I wouldn't put it past him to come up with something so complex with his characters. Like many writers and their stories, even if they possibly did not intend it, it may still be real if you seek it out :) But this is Kishi's legacy, I'm sure there are many concepts that go unnoticed in his writing even still!

best thread i read today

Thank you very much =D

Didn't think of it like that, nice thread :)

Thank you Blaze, I'm glad it made sense at least!

I just love Naruto and Sasuke both equally pretty much, so maybe that helps it out. It's awesome that this thread is being reflected on so positively!! Thank you again! =D

Thank you, that means a lot ! =D He's one of my favorites especially after this as well. I'm really liking the route Kishi is going with Naruto and Sasuke's rivalry/friendship also!

Sasuke in general represent negativity and selfishness in this manga.

That is false however. Sasuke is everything but selfish, he is as Kishi stated; Pure. Name one thing Sasuke did that was selfish, one thing he did for purely himself? He has done everything for his clan, his brother and now for his village.

Well, his motives may not have been entirely selfish, but his methods sure were in my opinion. If we look at it that way, Danzo, Pain, Obito weren't so selfish either, yet their actions end up hurting nearly everyone around them. When he betrayed Karin, that was pretty selfish for his revenge. Him running away from the village could possibly be seen as selfish.

Maybe selfish isn't the most specific word to describe it, but his path is much more destructive and MUCH less focused on others and teamwork than the "light" path characters. Sasuke was clearly meant to have the more negative and loner path, and darkness has been the term for that, which was more of what I was connecting to.

It was forshadowed by Sora and Riku: Light and Darkness can cooperate together.

Love the reference! This is definitely what I would be Kishi is going to be focusing on through the rest of this arc =D

Yin-Yang cooperation
